 migraine sufferers
I've been getting a lot of headaches and migraines over the past year. Seems to be hormonal and around my period/ovulation. I have had a brain MRI with & without contrast. All is fine there. After having a polyp removed, i went off my birth control (sprintec) this past friday. Wondering if my pill is the cause of my headaches. Hoping that's the easy fix or it's a hormonal imbalance. But that could take up to 3-4 months to get out of my system.
SO... in the mean time, what can i do? I often take excedrin migraine when they come on. I have a cold face mask that i put on (when i can). I just ordered 250mg Magnesium vitamins to take 2 pills each night.
Any other suggestions? i'm desperate as they are continuous for days and days. Is really hard to function, work FT and kids.

 Re: migraine sufferers
Get CoQ10 300 mg. Take one a day in addition to your magnesium.
A recent study has also shown that melatonin 3 mg every night is as if not more effective than the leading prescription preventive med. So it's worth a shot.
Those 3 things have reduced my migraine frequency incredibly.

and all safe to take and has been discussed with your doctor?
i only ask because everyone has an opinion out in the internet, google, facebook, etc but that doesn't mean it's always safe. Taking too much of something can hurt you so just making sure.

Yes! My doc was fine with it. And it's honestly just vitamins so nothing crazy. I do 400mg magnesium daily. I think up to 500 mg is fine daily I have been taking this combo for years and it has been life changing for me

Honestly I just use Bjs or Costco brand on the CoQ10. It's pricey! And target melatonin.

 Re: migraine sufferers
I use the excredrine migraine but I also use this migrastil migraine stick roll on that I bought off amazon. It’s basically just essential oil in a roll on, and I apply to my temples, forehead and back of my neck and it honestly works. My brother forced me to try it and I’m glad I did. Might be worth a shot.

I see a neuro for mine. Hydration is key for me. I asked about magnesium and he said the side effects are not worth it cause the studies don’t show it works. I have shots I give myself if I get one. Works faster than tablet medicine

Add in electrolytes. Water alone can flush out the salts and cause an imbalance

DH uses an electrolyte powder that you just mix with some water and drink once a day. It gives you all you need. Vitamin stores should sell it

I also used that migraine roll on peppermint stick. Works great. In addition I have an ice pack that wraps around my eye area which I use alot. There is also a supplement that a coworker told me about that I take, migrelife.

I use the NUUN tabs also. They can be pricey, but proper hydration is so important. I also use either peppermint oil, or "peace of mind" oil by Origins to take the edge off. I can't take meds so I try to stick to natural remedies. Maybe it's placebo effect but it works for me.

 Re: migraine sufferers
How often do you get migraines? How soon after you feel it coming do you take something? Have you seen a nuero? The best advice I got from my nuero (who I love so if you need a recommendation let me know) was to take something within 30 mins of feeling it come on and this tip alone has been beyond helpful. I've also been prescribed Rizatriptan/Maltax which has been very helpful too. Good luck.

I used to have the worst migraines around the time I would get my period. They would be so bad, I would be in bed all day with the blinds drawn and I would throw up.
I went off the pill and haven't had one since.

This is me! I get them for days (continuous) around my period and again when I ovulate. I just went off the pill on Friday. Praying the answer is as easy as this!!!
How long after did they stop? I read it can take 3-4 months to be out of your system.

Haven’t seen a neuro yet. We thought it was lymes and treated that. Headaches continued. Now we’re seeing it’s hormonal after I started tracking the headaches/migraines. Had to stay on pill until I had a polyp removed this past Friday. Stopped the pill then. Waiting to see how stopping the pill plays out first before seeing neuro/allergist/acupuncturist/anyone who can help me.

For me the nausea was even worse than the headache sometimes.
And the visual auras beforehand. Scary as shit.
