BELLA THE BULLY
OK, BTDT moms or moms that have 10-12 month old children I need your help. Bella is being a bully in daycare The woman there says it's a phase, but she has become a little bratty lately (spitting food she doesn't want at us, throwing the bottle, fake-crying when she wants us to pick her up RIGHT that second...)
I know she knows the meaning of no, because when she is crawling for the DVD player I will say "Bella, please stay away from the DVD player, no DVD"and she will stop and look at me, flash her little smile, turn around and go directly for it"
Now she is knocking kids over on daycare, taking toys and occasionally screaming at the top of her little lungs for no reason and scaring some of her little classmates How can I discipline her at this age??? What is appropriate...right now daycare makes her sit in her crib for a couple of minutes (doesn't seem to deter her much)
She goes to sleep on her own and can sit on the floor with her toys for what I think is a good amount of time playing by herself, but now this and her 5:45 am wake-ups are throwing me for a loop...
Tips? Suggestions? Ideas? I don't want a class bully

WOW, we really do live parallel lives... this describes Alex to a T lately! She has gotten SO bad that this past weekend my friend brought over her 19 month old. He was standing, playing with a toy, Alex decided she wanted it, grabbed it so fiercely out of his hands that he fell backwards and fell on the floor and started to cry! Just Friday I dropped her off at daycare at 8am, two babies were sleeping soundly, I put her on the floor and she screamed so loudly that she woke up the other two babies. She has also started the food throwing and simply won't listen to me anymore. I gather it's the phase where she is asserting her independence (or, better put, her WILL)... Everyone keeps telling me it's just a phase. I haven't changed much, other than when I see her being overly aggressive, I go over to her and tell her sternly, "Alex, play nice". Or, if she's doing something she shouldn't be doing, I tell her sternly "No", and if she doesn't listen, I pick her up and move her to another side of the room. As for the 3am wakings, well, I don't know what to tell you. I've been getting up and rocking her back to sleep, against my better judgment
This is what we get for having babies with more personality than their little bodies can handle!

Too bad we don't live closer, we could unleash these two on each other, I think THAT would straighten them out...Bella literally is doing the same things as Alex only she won't lay with me when she wakes up early, it's PLAYTIME...so I give her 20 minutes and it back to bed...now when she woke up at 5:45 it was bottles and then straight back to bed...
Good to know this is normal though and hopefully just a phase...I HOPE

I am taking my BC right now!!! It's so funny that they started off on completely different paths only to become so alike...mommies of easy or hard newborns, DO NOT BE FOOLED!

Re: BELLA THE BULLY
I always have said that Emily is quite the Diva and she definately shows it at times lately more then ever. She is so strong willed. But I guess I'd want her to be that way in the long run.
I think they are also asserting their independence and it must be frustrating to them when they know what they want and aren't able to get it or tell us about it. They are becoming so aware of what is going on and what they like and dislike but they are still very limited about what they can do for it.
