Is my makeup going to melt?
I always pack my makeup in my carry-on ... I never check it.
Now that I can't do that, I'm stuck packing it.
I'm concerned about lipsticks melting and running all over everything else - do you think that'll be a problem?

It should not melt I always check my make-up and never had a problem with it, but if you are worried you could put the stuff youre concerned about in ziploc bags.

no lipstick, mascara - no CHAPSTICK 
My friend flew LGA to Florida today, and her chapstick, mascara, lipstick, creme eyeliner, and creme blush were all confiscated

oh no - I would die if they confiscated any of my makeup. looks like i'm literally going to carry nothing on the plane this Thurs.

i dont know about melting but if something is not shut tightly it could get ugly.

We just got home from St. Maarten last night, had a connecting flight from Atlanta to LGA, and none of my lipstick/lipgloss/chapstick were confiscated. Maybe I got lucky? I had the rest of my makeup in my checked luggage and none of that melted so I think you will be fine. Remember that it is really cold up in the air.

I think you may have gotten lucky though - her whole family had their chapstick confiscated!

your makeup will be fine in cargo. i have done it tons of times. even lipstick and chapstick.like someone said it is pretty cold in cargo.
as for chapstick/lipstick, they are now allowing that on the plane. thank god. i have a 22 hour flight next week and i was about to have a panic attack with just the thought of no chapstick for 22 hours...
