Re: Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
My rules were they had to be nice, "normal" names. I have dealt with my name being misspelled and mispronounced my entire life and I was not bestowing that upon my kids.
DS 1 - Named after my DH. We were convinced it was a girl and were too lazy to think of a boys name...so yep...that bit us in the ass. The middle name is for my dad and paternal grandfather
DS 2 - I just liked the name. Middle name is for my grandfather
DS3 - First name after DH's friend, middle name for my uncle/Godfather

DS1 - named after a kid I babysat growing up - he was the BEST kid I've ever known and swore that I would raise a child like that someday. He's now a priest and is still awesome. His middle name is my husband's name.
DS2 - DS1 actually named him and we agreed on it. LOL! His middle name was my grandfather's name

I have a boys name as a girls name and named my daughter with the same idea. It suits her so well, too!

My DD is Emerson Avery. When I was a teenager, ages ago lol, I had a TV in my room made by the manufacturer, Emerson. I thought it was a cool name and always kept it in the back of my mind. Avery I first noticed from the labels manufacturer and thought it too was a cool name. When it came time to name my DD those two names sounded great together and that was it! So basically, she's named after a bunch of consumer products.
My DS is Grayden Keller. I always loved the name Hayden actually and had my DD been a boy that would've been her name. By the time my son came along I went from Hayden to Grayden mostly because I liked the nicknames, Gray and Grady. Came across the name Keller and thought it was cool.
I like different and less popular names. When I named my DD you never really saw the name the Emerson which I loved but now it's gotten more popular. Grrrrr
It's a good thing you didn't have a Sony or a JVC tv growing up....

My DS is named after my mother in law who passed away, and his middle name is for my grandfather who passed away when I was a baby. I love my DS's name.
For our next, I haven't decided for sure what I'm going to do yet as far as naming after relatives who had passed.. I have a nice list either way though!

I absolutely refused to have a 'town' name for either of my children. By town name I mean the common names that everyone in our town uses over and over (Gianna, Gabriella, Isabella, Gia, Emma, Massimo, Aiden, Anthony, Joseph etc.)
DS's name was my DH's choice. I didn't love it but one of my favorite characters in a Molly Ringwald movie is also the same name, so I was okay with it
DD's name was chosen because of One Direction I happen to be scrolling through a celebrity gossip site one day and there was a picture of one the members leaving a club with his girlfriend and I happened to glance at her name. I loved it and thought it was nice and uncommon yet old school traditional. I always get compliments on her name and how it is nice and refreshing to hear.

Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
There were a few names that I liked, but didn't want to use them for certain reasons. Then I came across the name Giuliana and I liked it. Her middle name, Rose, is after one of my late aunts and DH's late grandmother.

Chose DS name in a bar (drinking a non alcoholic beer) DDs were named in the hospital day 3. I had seen both names written and I liked them. Also they are not currently common names.

Both of my boys were supposed to be named Lucas/Luke but I changed my mind after they were born.
DH and I had a hard time agreeing on boys names and I didn't LOVE any of the choices he liked. But in both instances when the boys were born I looked at them and I just knew what their names should be. DH didn't initially like DS2s name but he came around and we both love it now.

Re: Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
I'm Greek so our kids are named after their grandparents, first paternal, then maternal. It's very old school and traditional. A lot of the time, names are tweaked, or more Americanized.
DD has the feminine version of my dad's name; DS1 has DH's name (tradition in his family. DS is the IV!); DS2, who was just born, has my brother's name, who passed away last summer.

Madison was the girl name I loved since I was a kid
When we found out twins we said two girls. Madison and Michaela or Madison and Morgan
When we found out one of each it was Madison and Landon. Then it was Madison and Colin. For a long time
One day I said to dh I can't believe we are naming our kid after the guy who did drugs with kelly Taylor.
That was the end of Colin lol. But it is how we got Dylan
So then they were named. Madison and Dylan lol
This is amazing. I LOVE 90210 and totally thought about Colin and Kelly when I read it before I got to the bottom!

Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
Dd#1 got her name from a character of a show we both watched. Even before we decided to have kids we both loved her name. Her middle name was changed a week before she was born and was based on a show he loved. I love her name.
Dd#2 was suppssed to be Surina Catherine even before we decided to have another child. A couple of months before we got pregnant I bought up one of my favorite names. I just didn't know a middle name. Dh agreed he loved it after trying it out for awhile. He chose her middle name during another movie.
If we had a boy the kid would have no name because we can not agree on a boys name to save our lives.

LOL I have an Emerson Ann. Never knew it was an electronic name until recently. I always liked more "boyish" names for girls. Wanted Charlie but we thought Charlotte was too popular right now. We used to live by an Emerson street and when I drove by it I always thought it would be a cool name for a girl. Then I saw it on a name list after I found out we were having a girl and the rest was history.

I went thru my Facebook friends and all the people in groups I was in. I just bombarded Shaun with names. We both have big families and didn't want to duplicate. He was hard to please tho so it took a lot of names before he agreed.. Hailey & Jillian are their names.

Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
I married later in life (age 40) and I was already going through peri-menopause. I said that if I ever had a baby either the first or middle name would be Elizabeth or John. In the story when the angel tells Mary that she is to be the mother of Jesus, he says "Your cousin Elizabeth has conceived a son in her old age...." That baby was John the Baptist. So I wanted to name my child after them. So when I unexpectedly got pregnant and gave birth to my DD at age 42 we named her after my husband's late mother and the middle name of Elizabeth.

My DD is Angelica. DH did not like my first pick so i just read some more names and that name sounded right. We then picked Harper for the middle name because it flowed beautifully with our last name and it kept with the "angelic theme" of her name as my family puts it.

Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
Juliet was just a name we always said we wanted to use. Her middle name, Michele was after my sister who passed away. When we were pregnant with another girl we wanted a name that was classic and went well with Juliet and also I wanted a 'C' name because my original idea was for DH and Juliet's initials be JMG and me and the baby's initials be CMG. So we chose Charlotte for the C and I wanted Madeline for the middle name and DH wanted Mae. We could not agree up until the day after she was born. I finally said to DH he can decide and he came out of left field with Grace - and so was named Charlotte Grace.

We were up in Lake George a few years ago and drove past an Emerson St. My DD was so excited to see her name. Recently we were up in MA and the name Emerson popped up a lot, they have an Emerson Hospital, Emerson Health Center etc.

Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
For DS, I had just always loved the name, and when I brought it up, DH liked it too. His middle name is after my DH.
For DD, we couldn't agree on anything really, but we had a backup name. Then one day I thought of a name and said I need to tell DH when he gets home. When he got home from work that night, he said "You know what name I thought of today?" and it was the same name! So that was obviously it. Her middle name is the proper form of my name.

Re: Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
I wanted something different but not weird different lol
I always loved the name Mallory and we both liked the name Lainey (found in a baby name book)
Since DH was ok with it, we went with Mallory for our first and said if we ever had another girl it would be Lainey.
So that is also how DD2 got her name.
Middle names - we picked Nicole for Mallory just because we thought it sounded nice. Lainey's middle name in Toni after my father who passed away before she was born.

Re: Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
My great grandmother's name was Amelia, and I always loved that name. So that became dd1's name - she's not named after my great grandmother per se. Her middle name is my moms name.
For dd2, we were stumped. Then about 2 weeks before I was due, my DH out of the blue says he loves he name Lily. I didn't love the flow with our last name, so we italianized it to Liliana. It also happens that Dd2 was conceived around when my grandfather passed away and his name Pasquale means Easter in English. Easter was always his BIG holiday. So now we have our little Easter Lily. Sort of a tribute to him. Her middle name is after dh's grandmother.
