Knee pain- when would you go to a doctor?

I fell going downhill at a curve at the bottom when I was cross-country skiing yesterday. I've fallen before and I know how to fall, but this time was a bit different and my legs did a split and then I tried to get back control and then my knee twisted (sorry for the run-on!).

I'm not sure if I felt a pop or not, but I did feel pain when it happened. I sat there for a while and it didn't hurt, so I put my skis back on to the beginning of the track. It started hurting then, but not a lot. Got home and elevated it and put ice on it. It was painful last night because it was stiff, and I was going to go to the doctor today, but I'm wondering if I should give it more time? I went cross country skiing all weekend and I'm achey in general. I can walk on it, but I limit it because it does hurt if it's too much.

When would you go in for knee pain? Do you think waiting until Wednesday is reasonable?

Normally I would say give it a few days but I just found out I have stress fracture in my foot and I need to wear a cast for the next 4-6 weeks. I waited a week and a half before getting it checked out and I can't help but think I made it worse. Good luck and I hope you feel better!

Knee pain always freaks me out. I would probably go to the doctor since I would hate for it to get worse by overdoing it.

Go and see what it is.
Could be nothing, could be something. Difficult to tell until imaging is done.

I had double knee replacement surgery at 49.
Had I taken better care of my knees when I was younger, I probably would not have had so much damage.

I'd go. I twisted my knee 3 weeks ago kickboxing. I could walk, had pain and swelling but nothing crazy. Found out last week I tore my ACL and will be having surgery.

Myself the Dr and PA were all shocked I tore my ACL because all signed didn't point to anything major until I had the MRI done.

Go and find out. You can end up doign more damage if you don't know you have something going on.

I tore my acl skiing. I would sooner. They had to drain my knee b/c there was blood. I had to do therapy before surgery to get all range of motion back. Then surgery and therapy again to get motion again. I did know immediately and felt a pop. And I also had no control of my knee right away. They have to tobggin me down. Not fun. I thought I just twisted or strained it for a few days. Then when the swelling didn't go down I went.

Re: Knee pain- when would you go to a doctor?

Thank you everyone. I have no swelling, thankfully. It does feel a bit better now, but I'll see what happens when I go to bed soon.

I have an appointment on Wednesday. I can't go tomorrow and I couldn't get in today because Mondays are always packed. I'll be taking it easy until then.
