How much time off did DH take when baby was born?
DH can technically take off as much as he wants but he is planning on 4 work days. He originally said 2 days.
I will have my mom and then MIL helping me out with the baby and older kids.

One day aside from the day I delivered.  I was pisssssssssssed, especially since he works for family.

With my first he took off one work week. DD was born on a Monday that was a holiday, so technically he only took off 4 work days.
For #2, he found out he was eligible to take more time, so I think he took 2 weeks.

None. He actually went to work the night dd was born. She was born at 10:30 am and DH went to work around 7 pm.

He had a week's vacation planned around my due date (he had to pick his vacation weeks in December for the whole year)
I gave birth a day before my due date so he just had to take a day or 2 off before his week's vacation kicked in.
However a week's vacation for him is actually 10 days (regular days off plus the week off)
So he was probably home close to 2 weeks before he had to go back

For our first, one week.
For our second, two weeks. Probably the same for #3.
Some of my male coworkers have taken off a month+, but I know that's definitely not the norm.

How much time off did DH take when baby was born?
He's worked for different companies for both dc, and both offered 2 full weeks paid paternity. With this one he did go back a day early, bc the day he should have gone back was the start of a 3 day weekend, and he didn't want to take advantage

My first I think a week.
With our second she was in nicu for just over a week and he was running to work at 6am almost every morning to get things in order even though he technically took off. I think he took maybe 8 days and then it was thanksgiving so he was off the rest of that second week.

DH was planning on taking a week for both but bc I had 2 very long inductions, they cut into the time he was planning to take.

With our newest baby, I was hospitalized for over a week in preterm labor and then with the birth. He needed to take care of our older kids so he took off a total of two weeks I think. With our second, he just started his current job and only took off one day. It was awful.
As an aside, I wish this country would start giving paid paternity and maternity leave. Just a few days off for a new baby is just not enough. And if you don't have vacation time, forget it.

For my first, DH had to go to work the day after the baby was born, but I was still in the hospital. I think he took off 2 or 3 days.
With my second, he was in the middle of changing jobs so he was home for 2 weeks.

Yep we are SO ass backward when it comes to that compared to Europe and South America.
We are actually the worst, right up there with 3rd world countries.
I had just started a new job so I had no vacation or personal time. I had to go unpaid and come back in 6 weeks because I couldn't afford to be unpaid for any longer.
Disgraceful

DH took 4 work days with our third. The first two were about the same. He claimed he would take more but he took under a week each time.

DS 1 and 2- he took off 2 weeks.
DS3- he worked somewhere different and they give 6 weeks paid paternity and maternity. He ended up taking about 7 weeks off because he added some vacation days. It was the best thing ever because I had a difficult c-section recovery and it was over the summer so he was able to take the big kids to the beach etc while I rested.
