Trader joe's Virgin!!

So the curiosity is getting the better of me and I think I am ready for my FIRST trip to Trader Joes!!

The nearest one to me is the one in Lake Grove - has anyone ever been there?

My main shopping list items will be healthy snacks for my kids for school...dinner solutions - one vegetarian, one meat eater (and loves asian food), two kids - one who doesn't eat meat and one who eats a little.

Is it worth it?

TIA

POP THAT CHERRY!

Yes, it's completely worth it. They will have a lot for the specifics you listed.

I think the best part about trader joes for your will be the portion sizes. If you needed to make four different meals it will be so easy.

I love Trader Joe's...they have good frozen veggies that I can't get easily other places, like frozen artichoke hearts. They also have frozen cauliflower rice that we eat on nights when we are rushed. I like their snacks and prepared sauces. My kids eat a lot of dried fruit and nuts and I buy it from there. We also like the fruit leathers for special treats.

Get the before and chicken wontons. I put them on a plate with a very wet paper total and microwave for 1:20 then toys in non stick on med high heat. Serve with the vegetable fried rice and scallion pancakes and dinner is served.

Great chips!!!! Love their cookies, cheesecake is amazing,

I buy all condiments. Most are organic and don't have corn syrup and nasty things in them. Also the applesauce cups and squeeze pouches. All orangic and nothing added to it. Coconut oil, olive oil, olive oil spray, mustard. Anything canned like beans especially. Artichoke hearts (canned or frozen) heart of palm for salads! I can just keep going.

Re: Trader joe's Virgin!!

Definitely go! They have a great selection of frozen foods, frozen veg like artichoke hearts, and fruits for smoothies, brown rice, gyoza, ready-made meals, etc. They have a good selection of condiments, nut butters, bread, etc. Grass fed ground beef, yogurts, different cheeses. Their olive oil popcorn is delicious and a good snack. You have nothing to lose by going.

They also have a great return policy if you don't like something after you've opened it.

Re: Trader joe's Virgin!!

I'm not really in love but I know I'm an anomaly. There are a few things I buy there and enjoy, but I think the things are so small. In addition, while the food may be organic, it doesn't mean it's healthy. That being said, I like their rices cauliflower, egg rolls, frozen chicken fried rice and a few other things.

I agree. It's ok but I go like once a year, walk around and end up buying stuff I don't really need just for the sake of getting something because I am there.
It's a ton of frozen, prepackaged, processed food IMO. Tons of frozen stuff.
And the Lake Grove one is so small you can barely walk in there.
I do enjoy the cookie butter though.

I agree. I don't think their fresh produce is that good, everything spoils very fast. If I go, I just pick up a few snacks but I won't do a full shopping trip there. And there always seems to be a lot of recalls on their items.

I don't do a full shopping there but I do think $1.99 for their frozen green beans (the skinny kind) is a great deal and stock up every time I go! Love having that in the freezer as a quick side to make with garlic and oil. Also like their coconut oil and olive oil. Love their cereal bars for the kids and their kid yogurts. Mini pizzas I buy often to have as a back up for kids as well. Their frozen mini pancakes too!
