Two Health Insurances - Billing question

I have coverage through my employer which is my primary insurance. I also have coverage through my husband's employer which is my secondary insurance. My insurance is pretty crappy and barely paid for my doctor's visit, so my husband's insurance was billed also. I am tracking the claims online and on both, it shows that I owe the co-pay. I know that I owe co-pay on my insurance, but do I end up paying a second co-pay on my husband's?

TIA!

I never paid 2 co-pays, just one for whichever was the primary insurance.

Re: Two Health Insurances - Billing question

Sometimes the secondary picks up the co-pay or a portion of it.
Depends upon the service provided and the insurance contracts.

For my surgery / hospital / rehab, I paid zilch.
EBCBS (secondary) picked up the balance after Cigna (primary).

For outpatient PT, Cigna charged a $30 co-pay,but EBCBS kicked in $15 towards that. I only had to pay the provider $15 for each session.

Twice the work of keeping records, but the benefits are good.

Re: Two Health Insurances - Billing question

Thanks for the response. So I called Cigna, and while my insurance knows about secondary coverage, it turns out that my secondary did not know about primary coverage. I think they were billed as primary which is why the EOB is showing that I owe a co-pay. My insurance is so terrible that I'm wondering if it's even worth it to keep it.
