What can I do for 2 girls who just lost their mother?
Our dear friend just lost her battle with cancer. The dad and his 2 girls, ages 4 and 7, are coming over to our house this weekend. I want to do something for them but I don't know what to do. They live out west and will be returning next week so not sure if it will be a burden to buy them things.
Any ideas appreciated.

I'm so sorry to hear that.
Could you maybe put together some gift certificates for them to places by their home, e.g., restaurants, a play place for the girls, etc.?

Do you have any pictures of their mom? They may appreciate just looking at them and hearing stories about her.

What can I do for 2 girls who just lost their mother?
Oh my how sad for the girls. Do you have pictures and videos of their mom? Maybe make a montage as a keepsake for them. Or a photo album for each of them of photos.
Maybe a heart locket for each with a picture of their mom.

Not something for them right now but put a scrap book together. Pictures, funny stories. Things they wouldn't know about their mom.

Maybe have 2 baskets with things to do to keep them busy there. Play doh. Coloring books. Melissa and Doug make your own jewelry set.
Get some cupcake mix and bake some together. A funny movie for them

I think it's too soon & they're too little to show pictures or video. I think it would just really upset them.

I really like this idea. Either a locket, or they make heart necklaces with a persons picture on them.

Oh how terrible, what a shame. I agree with those who said pictures, videos and scrapbook of the mom is just going to overwhelm and upset them at this time. She just passed away, plus they are so young. It's so hard to know what the right thing is to do.
I like the idea of some activities they can do while here and on the plane back, like books, coloring books, and crafts.
Then I would start putting together any pictures, videos etc you have. Then send to the dad for when he feels they are ready to receive that. I'm sure they'll be glad to have it as they get older.
I'm so sorry for their, and your, loss.

Take them out for a girls day. Get mani's and pedi's, get lunch and then go see a movie. I would wait on pictures or anything like that. When my step sisters lost their dad I did the girls day and they still talk about it and that was 20 years ago!

I think this is a great idea. Take them out and get their mind off things. I'm on the it's too soon to reminisce boat. I can't even imagine going through something like that at such a young age.

I am so heartbroken reading this. So, so sorry for your loss and for those little girls. Ugh, I can't breathe right now.
I agree with the other ladies who said wait on the pictures. I wouldn't do that until they were older or "ready" (does that ever happen)?
A nice "girls" day out would be great.

I think spending time with them and doing a girls day would be great. I love the idea of a locket also or some piece of jewelry for them to wear everyday to remember their mom.
My heart breaks for these poor girls. I can't imagine what they must be going through. I'm so sorry for your loss.
