Cell phone videos
Does it amaze anyone else the way our society has become with the constant video taping of EVERYTHING on cell phones? I am talking about emergency situations.
I saw a video online just now about the scare at JFK yesterday where they thought there was gunfire in a terminal.
The people were laying on the floor as heavily armed cops stormed in and shouted at everyone to get down and they were all laying there on the floor and filming this on their cell phones.
I don't know, if it were me, and I was in an airport and I thought there might be a gunman on the loose, I think the LAST thing I would think to do would be to whip out my cell phone and start filming. I'd be laying there, trying to take cover and probably pissing my pants.
I've seen it so much lately- during all kinds of disasters. Maybe it's just me, but the last thing on my mind in a life or death emergency would be to start filming it. For what? How about put the flucking phone down and try to get yourself out of danger?
I don't get it.

It amazes me too. They are more interested in taking the video then their own safety.

Re: Cell phone videos
I love this photo. Every one is looking through it out their phone and she is just enjoying the moment.

Re: Cell phone videos
i agree.
i have had a few "highly stressful" events occur in my life recently. during those moments, i hardly was able to function in the "normal" things i had to do with my phones. i, for one, would not be able to film any of these events EVEN IF I WANTED TO. the way i react to stress is to shake, sometimes close to violently.
and if there were gunfire... yes, i'd probably pee myself.

Yeah, I'm a millenial and I don't get it either. When I go to a concert, I try to just enjoy the music.. I'm not sure how everyone around me really enjoys the artist when they literally record the whole entire show. So weird.

And do they go back the next day and watch/listen to a shi!tty, dark, blurry cell phone video of the concert? I never got what they do with these videos.

I really have no idea. It's so stupid. I'm usually sitting in nose-bleeders so they're literally recording.. a little blob (the artist) on a big stage with ****** sound. Weird.

I agree. I almost never even take regular pics. I just want to enjoy myself.

Re: Cell phone videos
As far as I'm a emergency situation,no I'm not recording or on my phone lol
But as for everyday life..it's so easy to judge and assume that when you see a parent taking pics and video on their phone that they are missing out,not enjoying the experience
Maybe that person at he concert likes to listen to it again live while working out. Idk
My point is I always have my phone nearby bc I love taking pics of my kids. I try to get ones when they are not looking
I enjoy it. Doesn't mean everyone else has to. But doesn't make me miss out on life

Yes, my post was about in emergency situations. Like the shooting scare at JFK specifically. Or during terrorist situations, etc.
Or when you see people with selfie sticks as a fire rages and people are dying . (saw that one in the NY Post a few years ago when there was a big explosion in nyc).
I couldn't care less about people taking pics and videos of their kids in every day life
