Karina Vetrano
Not sure there were any posts about her here yet, but this one of the most horrific crimes. And the gory details were all over the newspapers. I can't imagine the family's grief. May she watch over them forever as their angel.

This is heinous act took place 6 miles from where I live. Yes i'm terrified that this utter shit is roaming free somewhere to prey again. Ladies: please, don't go out alone at night, don't go in remote areas alone, even in daylight.

So horrific and disturbing. She was such a beauty. The more I read about it, I'm starting to think it was a stalker who knew her jogging route. RIP

Absolutely horrible. My FB feed is about 90% photos and tributes to her; it seems we had many mutual friends. I am also inclined to think that it was a stalker. You don't hear about things like this in HB, it's such a close-knit, almost insular community. I hope they catch the garbage who did this and torture him to death.
So many prayers to her family.

This story has been haunting me and I didn't even know her. So horrific and the details keep me awake at night. I am pretty active and usually run by myself or with the jogging stroller and I haven't since this happened, even though I don't live in the area. It just scared the hell out of me. So young, so much life ahead of her
Not that I think that this would have mattered because this guy was a sick SOB but please, don't listen to music when you're out alone and be aware of your surroundings.

This is such a terrible story. My heart goes out to her and her family. What a nightmare. I also wonder if it was someone who knew her or who was stalking her. It is too coincidental that the one night her dad stayed home this happened.

I can't stop thinking about this whole thing. She was so beautiful. Her poor father- I can't imagine how he is feeling. I feel like her instagram account was wide open and she had a stalker. They should really look at the followers of her account. Maybe it was someone who knew her and saw she was alone without her dad that night. They also mentioned in an article her bf and her broke up 2 nights before she was killed. But he is not a suspect because he had a credible alibi. I just hope they find out who did this.

I saw her mom on the news speaking to the press. I don't know how she composed herself. But she was letting her anger out at the evil vile person who dos this. I can't imagine being her mother

Howard Beach is where I grew up. I lived there 27 years. We bought our first house there. Up until last year my parents lived there and my grandparents still are there. It's horrific. My sister knew her. Was at the services and she is haunted by this. We can't stop thinking of her. I hope they make an arrest soon. This is one of the most tragic stories I can remember. The whole community is on edge since they have not found her killer. I am still part of the HB moms FB group and the night this all occurred and the events were unfolding were a nightmare. Prayers to that family.

What's awful is that it was broad daylight when this occurred.
That's the really scary part! 5pm in the summer.

Since Day 1; this story has made me sick to my stomach. Just the torture she had to endure; while fighting for her life; while this object of dirt did what he did to her.
I can only hope that his DNA becomes a match somewhere. Because otherwise; it can take years; until he is caught if his DNA was never tested for a previous crime. And as each day passes without getting caught; his wounds are healing and will be less and less noticeable to the public at this point. That is what is making me sick.
But this object of sh*t probably has scratches all over his face. Is it hiding in its house for over a week? I cant imagine how no one on the street, or a store wouldn't notice that as a red flag.
I assume it doesn't have a job; as I would think that if its face is all scratched up; or out of work since its happened....that would raise a red flag as well?
I am also not sure this person knew her. If this was the first time she ran without her dad; how would anyone know? Its just hard to fathom just being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I started running again about a week ago. I never run at night but I do run alone. Along the water and it's always busy with other runner.
But this story made me go out and buy pepper spray. You just never know

I didn't know her but like you seem to have friends that knew her or know someone that knew her. Living in the neighborhood, I'm completely sickened by this. DH and I always drive along those streets (near the weeded, marshy areas) on night when the twins won't sleep and last night we were over there and saw all of the cop cars camped out and I felt sick to my stomach. I cannot get this poor girl out of my head. The thoughts of what she went through...her poor father. I just can't...

OMG.
I just saw this too. Of course it's doubtful that the cases are related, but how eerie (and eye opening) to have such similar incidents happen twice in a week. These poor women and their families.

I can not stop thinking about this story. I was up at 3am with my 3 year old daughter sleeping next to me and I just kept holding her tighter and tighter. I saw the mom talking on tv, I have read the story, the fight she put up and the fear she must have felt. I pray for her family. I pray the find this person that did this. I can't even imagine what her family is going through. The sadness in this world.

I saw this- so terrible. Oddly enough we (DH, me, my DD and her BF) drove through Princeton MA yesterday leaving Great Wolf Lodge- Google maps gave us an indirect route to avoid the toll. The part we saw was very rural and pretty and had that small-town feel. The community must be devastated.
I hope they catch both killers.
