Indoor playground vent

Just need to vent. Last night I took my 1 year DD to one of those indoor play placed. In the whole place there was one area designated for older babies / toddlers. My DD is crawling , cursing , pulls herself up , but doesn't walk unassisted. Even though it was designated a " mini kids" area there were tons of tall / big 6 and 7 years running everywhere ,almost trampling DD. When I said something to the parents they got really snotty and the manager refused to kick the kids and redirected me to another area of the playground that was tiny ( albeit less crowded). ggrrrrr !

I've ran into this repeatedly myself at play places. I don't know why they don't enforce rules and keep the baby area for babies. One place even has an area where you're supposed to remove shoes and I can't tell you how many times I see grown adults and big kids in there with their shoes. Meanwhile, there are signs everywhere saying not to go in the area with your shoes on.

Other people's inconsideration makes it difficult to find places to go with very little ones.

Yup. And outdoor places too. Kids riding their bikes full speed through the baby area or running around playing tag or hide and seek in it.

Yep. We were just in the kiddy pool at the park and I ended up yelling at a couple of 7 and 8 years old because they almost drowned my dd and like 3 other toddlers. Another mother thanked me because no one was saying anything.

Welcome to the new age of parenting where their special little snowflakes can do no wrong Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I hate play places like that because of a$$hole parents - the kids don't know any better because they were never taught.

Was it once upon a tree top? Ive on,y been twice, but it's a mad house with so many bigger kids running around with no parents in sight. Stealing toys from little kids, running them over and pushing them. I even saw a nanny asleep on the bench outside....

Re: Indoor playground vent

I am sorry this happened to you.

My DS is 6 and whenever we go to these places I am constantly telling him to watch out for the babies and pushing him to the appropriate area for him (which is usually not an issue.)

Some parents are so neglectful. We were at McDonald's a few months ago in the play area and I had to go over to a parent to tell them that their child had literally walked out the door of the play area into the other part of the restaurant. The kid was maybe 3 years old.

This is a little off topic but we were at the spray park today and one boy sprayed me and got me soaking wet today. I was not in my bathing suit, just sitting off to the side but went over to check on my kids and he looked right at me and sprayed me. I looked at him and was like WTH and he said sorry but still. I have 3 little ones and Im always saying something to the older kids at parks. Its like their parents disappear.

Same thing happened to me recently. Got sprayed on purpose when I was sitting on a bench off of the water area, one of the boys was making lewd gestures while he stood over a water spout, and another one was filling up a dirty construction cone and using that to wet other kids.

I would have stuck the cone on that little turd's head and watched him walk into things.

Re: Indoor playground vent

I found places like "my gym" or "little gym", music together etc... are much better for babies/toddlers than large open play/indoor play places. They age groups are controlled and the activities are structured.

YES, this. Sometimes I will take my kids to the park and these moms will just be sitting there chatting it up with their coffee not paying attention to anything their kid is doing.
