I can't stop crying
We are putting my cat down tonight at 6pm. I work from home so I'm trying to work and cuddling with him on my lap. I'm heart broken. I tried to explain he won't be here when my 3 yr old gets home and she keeps saying he's going with grandpa. I took pics this morning. He's only 9. This is so unfair.
Update - thank you for all the kind words. Dh and I keep crying but it was quick and painless. We miss him so much.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I remember when I had to put my first cat to sleep - I couldn't stop crying for days. Just give him as much love as you can. I'm sure you are putting him down because it is the kindest thing albeit one of the hardest.

I'm so sorry. I went thru that a couple years ago and it was so hard. I had made the decision because she was dwindling away, skin and bones, and obviously in pain. I didn't want her to suffer anymore, as much as I didn't want to say goodbye. It was a very hard decision to make and very hard to let her go, but I felt it had gotten to the point that she was just suffering, and I felt it was my responsibility to not let her keep suffering. I'm so sorry, it's so hard to say goodbye to a beloved pet.

So sorry, I can feel your pain.
I had to put my baby down when he was only 12 because of cancer.
It's been 10 years and I still get teary eyed thinking about him.

I am so sorry. Putting a pet down is one of the hardest things... Our cat died at 6 because of kidney failure and I still cry about it. Sending you love.

Ugh I know that feeling all too well.
My kitty died at only 5 years old.
Totally unexpected. One minute she was fine and then over the course of the weekend she got so sick that by the time we got her to the vet, she died there- we didn't even have to put her down.
It was awful
That was almost 7 years ago and I still think about it all the time. It's so heartbreaking.
I'm so sorry- many thoughts and prayers for you today

How awful!!
And to the OP, my heart goes out to you. We are a cat family (as the name PennyCat suggests) and I can't imagine having to say goodbye to any of my four. So many hugs for you getting through this difficult time.

So so sorry. I have been through this 2 times and it is the worst. I made them each a garden stone (kits are sold at Michael's) and put there names in them. They are in my backyard and I always remember them. Man now I am crying :(
