What to do about chipped furniture?
My DD's crib paint is chipped in a lot of places. We want to use the crib for baby #2 coming in February, but the crib looks terrible.
The manufacturer went out of business, as did the store we purchased it from, so a replacement or refund is out of the question.
I was thinking maybe I could find someone to sand the whole thing down and repaint it or just leave it without paint and stain the wood.
Any advice???

Why not just buy some matching stain and hit those chipped spots. Easier and cheaper.

This.
Sanding it down and repainting it will cost a fortune because it's VERY labor intensive. My DH has attempted stuff like that before and it is SOOO much work it's not worth it. You'd be better off buying a new crib, then doing that.
I'd try to do the patch repair like the pp said

Re: What to do about chipped furniture?
I would either find a paint that matches (if there are any pieces you can take into a store, they can color-match with a computer), or use the problem areas as a way of making an interesting pattern or design. You could paint flowers or shapes in a contrasting color over the chipped area.
I definitely wouldn't sand the whole thing and repaint or stain. It may actually be cheaper to buy a new set! Especially if you had to get it clean enough to stain.

I would just get some touch up paint and hit the spots that chipped! What color is it? If it's white, that's easy enough. If it's wood grain, they sell these touch up furniture markers in different stain colors. I bought a 3 pack at Homegoods, and they are great for a chair that my cat keeps scratching!

Re: What to do about chipped furniture?
It's white paint. A while ago, Behr's sent me a little tube that was supposed to match the crib, but it was so thin that it did nothing. Maybe I'll have luck going to a paint store to find a color that matches.
If it were a cheap set I'd have no problem just getting another, but the crib was expensive, almost $900, and my grandmother bought it so I can't get rid of it.
I was under the impression of spending more for "quality" furniture was the right thing to do. No wonder The manufacturer went under.

I firmly believe there is no such thing as "quality" furniture anymore- no matter how much you spend. Everything is made like shit!

Anything will chip if it's bumped hard enough on something. Heck, my brand new $$$ car got a chip in the paint less than a week after I bought it.
Maybe try chalk paint. I just did a desk in Annie Sloan Pure White, and I noticed it's much thicker than traditional paint. But, if there is an actual chunk of wood taken out along with the paint, then you will need a filler first, then paint it.

Behr's did go out of business but the actual crib manufactor probably didn't. Do you know the direct manufacturer?

Try and find matching white paint, there are 1000's to choose from at Home Depot/Lowe's/etc, and then fill in the chips with a little paintable wood filler, give it a gentle quick sanding to make it smooth and then paint. It's SO easy!!!!

So when the chips happened almost 2 years ago, Behr's told us the company- Munire/Echelon was going out of business. I just googled the company and they seem to be up and running now Only thing is I see that they have a 1 year warranty, so that's over anyway.

Ok, this sounds doable, thanks

The chalk paint may be a good choice because I think I may need something thicker, thanks
