besides black, gray, and brown... what other colors are "neutral?"

many colors can act as a neutral. I have a pair of boots that are a deep purplish color. I wear them as a neutral but people would not automatically think it to be a neutral.

what are you trying to do color wise?

This exactly. I have a dark red bag that is very neutral.

This exactly. I have a dark red bag that is very neutral.



i'm going to knit a pair of socks for someone who loves neutral colors. most of the sock yarn i own is wild and crazy. i tend to wear a LOT of black (again because i have no idea what i'm doing) and i like the crazy sock colors... they make me smile that i'm wearing all black and have crazy socks.

so i wasn't sure i have yarn that would fit the bill or if i needed to buy something.

after i posted the question, i found in my stash a variegated brown yarn. it goes from light brown to dark brown. i'm hoping that will work. especially since it's fancy merino wool and silk.
