As soon as I got my license at 17 I was driving alone.
Same but I took drivers Ed and I drove with my parents everywhere we had to go everyday. Practice practice practice! The only way she will learn to get more experience behind the wheel. I know it's scary but you should drive with her to see how she really drives. Than start with small trips.
I also took Drivers Ed and my parents let me drive A LOT when I got my permit at 16. You can only get more comfortable driving as you drive. By the time I was 17 I was comfortable behind the wheel and had plenty of experience on parkways too. I needed my car to get to and from school, to my job, and quite honestly, my parents were tired of always having to schlep me around. They were excited when I got my license! lolol

My parents did not allow us to drive their cars- the first time I drove my mother's car I was in my 20's. I took driver's ed and had a license at 17. The rule in my home growing up was you had to buy your own car and pay for your own insurance. Me and my siblings all followed these rules- I did not have a car until I was 20--it wasn't a priority- I took public transportation or for rides from friends.

I just want to say that I think you are a great responsible parent. I could personally never just hand my kid the car & let them be off alone the day they pass their test. People are crazy out there & a car is a weapon. You gave her private lessons & she took driver's ed. I agree with everyone's advice to have her be the one to drive you around for your errands for a while. I'm sure she's still just nervous but she will be fine with more real street experience.
