I don't think I can vote in this election
I have ALWAYS voted. Since I was 18. Every election. Every time.
I do not think I can vote in this presidential election.
I DESPISE both candidates. Cannot find ONE redeeming quality for either one. I was leaning towards Bernie Sanders.
Anyone else feel this way? Like I absolutely CANNOT support or pretend to support either one. I HATE not voting... but I literally have not ONE good thing I can find about either one. Like I do not want my name attached to having anything to do with either one getting elected.
I am discouraged and SO sad and angry for this country.
Edited to add: I am registered independent.

Re: I don't think I can vote in this election
I am having trouble deciding and committing. I want to feel good about who I'm going to vote for. There is no way I am going to vote for Trump. And even though I feel Hillary is evil, as she's being made out to be in the press and on social media, I don't want to vote for her. I was very much a Sanders supporter.
But I also feel that a Trump presidency will be dangerous. He has strongly hinted that he doesn't really want to do the grunt work and will delegate nearly everything to the VP. He's hotheaded and lacks knowledge about how the government is supposed to work- for example, saying he'll have the Supreme Court investigate Hillary's emails, among other things.
I do think there will be consequences to not voting, I just don't know what they are.

I actually said to someone yesterday that I wouldnt be surprised if this was one of the lowest years in terms of people who went out and voted. I dont think people want to pick the "best of the worst"

My concern with a third party candidate is that it'll still result in a Trump win, and at this point a third party candidate has no chance of winning.

Re: I don't think I can vote in this election
I agree that I feel both candidates are an absolute abomination and cannot bring myself to vote for either one. However, I feel like I MUST vote just to feel like I made some attempt at not leading this country down either scary path even if the candidate I vote for doesn't have a shot in hell. I'm going to research 3rd party candidates and have contemplated just writing in Kasich.
I also feel like I need to vote to show my kids that it is their responsibility as a citizen. It's been hard though with this being the first election they are old enough to ask real questions about. When they asked who are you voting for I had to find a way to explain how I felt without scaring them

As much as I understand the sentiment, not voting at all will have the same effect. And maybe - I hope and wish and pray - this will be the year a 3rd party actually gets enough votes for federal funding. There are sooooo many people who are suffering this dilemma. It's never been more possible IMO.

This is my concern as well.
Then, on the other hand, I feel like everyone I talk to feels the same way and if we all collectively took the risk and voted 3rd party someone else would be president for sure.

I don't think I can vote in this election
Here is my opinion on voting or not voting (and take it for what it is JUST MY OPINION).
While yes we vote for a president and while that person has a ton of power there are so many checks and balances in the way things are approved and able/unable to get through government. I think of it more big picture. While I have my issues with Hillary I have more issues with a republican candidate, any one not just trump. So while I would not vote for Hillary if I had a choice I will still vote because I personally think a Republican in office can do way more harm than a bad Democrat.
So basically I vote for my views on various topics and even if the candidate for that party is not perfect I still have faith that in whole things that are important to me will still be intact because of the overall views of the party.
And remember your votes for Congress members are just as if not more important. They are the checks and balances to the president.

I've thought about that too - but think about the people you talk to. There are WAY more people in this country who aren't online or discussing all these other options. I think a lot of older people especially, who don't really use the internet that much, don't have any idea about third party candidates because where else would you hear about them? They don't bring in the big bucks, so they are hardly talked about in other media.

Re: I don't think I can vote in this election
I feel the exact same way. I'm terrified for this election and just truly sad that this is what our country has come to.
I'll be doing some research on 3rd party candidates this election. While I dont think it will make much of a difference, I cannot in good faith put my vote towards either the Republican or Democratic candidate. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that I contributed to either one of them being elected. So, my vote will likely go to a 3rd party candidate and although they won't be elected, I can at least feel decent about my vote.

I can't vote for either. I can't lay my head down at night knowing I voted for either of those two. I don't know yet what I'll do.

Re: I don't think I can vote in this election
Please VOTE! If everyone felt this way and wrote in a third party/non Dem or Republican candidate, that candidate will win. I never ever understood this binary "us vs them" two-party system. It is so dumb and ridiculous. I am a huge Bernie supporter, and I completely despise both Donnie and Hill. I will be voting for Jill Stein or writing in Bernie.
Whoever you decide on, please vote. It's the only way things are ever going to change.

I don't think I can vote in this election
If for no other reason, vote on women's issues and equality. Hate Hillary, call her a liar, crook, criminal...whatever. But, she would not do what Trump would do to this country.
If Donald Trump becomes the next President, you can kiss Roe vs. Wade goodbye, along with gay marriage and transgender rights.
Please read the newly adopted GOP platform. It reads like something out of 1950. One part says, "Children raised in a traditional two-parent household tend to be physically and emotionally healthier, less likely to use drugs and alcohol, engage in crime or become pregnant outside of marriage." This is basically condemning same-sex and single parents.
I'm sure I'm not going to change any minds. But, the idea of a Trump presidency terrifies me for what it means for women and minorities. So, please consider what I've said when you decide whether to vote and who to vote for.

And that is not true. Research shows children from same-sex homes are as well adjusted as any other kid.

Re: I don't think I can vote in this election
I have never felt like this in election before. For me I will vote for the lesser of two evils. I do not support Hilary 100% but I support her 100% more than I support trump. I feel she is the safer of the two options. So she will get my vote on the day. Its such a sad state of affairs and we are a laughing stock all over the world.

Look into Gary Johnson. It's not a vote for anyone BUT him. I honestly think THIS is the election where the 3rd party shines. He is sooooo close to having enough votes to get into the debates! If Mr. Johnson can do this he for sure will be a truly viable candidate! I just adore him and his VP

And if social issues don't move you...
Trump said yesterday that, under his presidency, the US would not necessarily come to the aid of countries in the NATO alliance. You know, like they did for us after 9/11. Trump is bascially like, "what's in it for me and then we will help you."
Boosts my theory that he is in cahoots with Putin and Manafort is the mastermind. But, I'm jumping off my soapbox.

I can't support anyone not voting. Perhaps you can separate the person from the issues, and then vote for the candidate that supports the issues most important to you.

I personally don't have the issues with Hillary that many have.
I find her to be incredibly smart and incredibly qualified for the position. Is she perfect? No. But I don't get the vitriol. I think she will be an excellent president.
On social issues alone I would vote for Hillary. With Supreme Court vacancies, it is paramount for me. I
