I went to see the Cure last night at MSG (awesomesauce!). I'll try to explain what happened as best I can:
My friend brought 2 tickets that her sister had bought on Ticketmaster but couldn't use, in addition to our 2 tickets; my friend sold the 2 tickets to her co workers. They are printouts.
When we get to MSG (all 4 of us), they're told the sister's tickets were already scanned 20 mins ago. We go to the "help" line and they can't tell us anything other than that. We're beyond puzzled and I could see the co workers were not happy. The tickets have her sister's name on them. She has her sister text her a pic of her license.
My friend and I go in with our tickets and alert security that we have the real 2 tickets for the seats that someone is sitting in and has scanned. Security goes over to the 2 people, a guy and young woman, and asks them to come with them.
Apparantly they had bought those tickets on Stubhub. They even had her sister's name on their printouts. Security ends up giving them other seats, and my friend goes back downstairs to give the tickets to her friends who then get in.
We suspect that someone hacked her sister's Ticketmaster account and sold the tickets on Stubhub, unbeknownst to her.
Just putting this out there for folks buying tickets on Stubhub. Not sure what you can do to avoid this.
If you got all that kudos

That sucks for everyone involved. I do know that StubHub guarantees the tickets they sell, but that won' help you much if you get thrown out of a concert that you are excited to go see. Glad it worked out for everyone but definitely kind of scary how that could happen

Did anyone who had the tickets in their hands ever post a pic of them on social media? The barcodes can be replicated and reproduced to look like print-at-home tickets and in many cases, will scan at the doors.

Even if they did, the original buyer (they'd have their ID and credit card used for the purchase) would be honored at the door and whoever printed out the fake ones would be asked to leave.
