Board positions?

Does anyone or their significant other hold a board position? What was the process? Why did you desire the position?

Re: Board positions?

I will be on the board for next year at my temple. Someone who is on the board for next year asked me, and I said yes.

Board positions?

president of Civic association for 8 yrs.( was voted in 2 times, just stepped down this yr) Community council for 4 yrs. Board of Directors for an equestrian group for about 5 yrs, Chairman of membership as well
Reason for The Civic and community: because I did not like the way my town was changing.
Equestrian boards because that is my Fun passion as well

like one posted asked, not sure what kind of board you are asking about, but, usually a person must be voted in by either the other board members or the community. For Civic assoc it's the community ( membership) that votes a person in, like any other vote.

For other groups, the board must vote a person in. For both types a person must be sworn in at a ceremony

Re: Board positions?

I am on the board of my co-op. Asked to fill a vacancy and then voted in.
I hold the office of secretary and also chair the resale committee.
I do this because I want to have a say about where I live, how funds are spent, and how well the property is maintained. It's a thankless, unpaid job, and co-op boards always get a bad rap.
But I live here too and want to make sure it stays nice.

My biggest pet peeve is shareholders who ***** and moan about everything, yet can't take 2 hours once a year to attend the annual meeting.
