If you are really familiar with putting together citations in Chicago style, can you FM me please? I have a question about how to build a specific citation for a paper I am writing...
Thanks!

Have you tried NoodleTools.com or the Purdue OWL? They tend to have great info on citations and Noodle Tools does it for you. I'm only well versed in APA and MLA unfortunately!

Re: Is anyone REALLY familiar with Chicago Manual of Style citations? I need help!
Thanks... I've tried those, but I think I'm just maybe overthinking it. I need to cite a historical letter that was translated... using the letter as found through Maryland University's digital archives (website). Trying to figure out how to cite it. Do I cite the original author of the historical letter and the date it was originally written? Or do I cite the name of the person that translated it and the date it was translated? It's not really an article, or a journal or anything.
Citations have gotten so much more challenging than they were back when all we had were basically books and magazines to work from lol! Not to mention, all I ever really used was MLA. I feel like I'm entering uncharted waters here! lol

If you check out the link at the bottom, you'll see how to format the bibliography entry.
As a general rule of thumb, the in-text citation matches the first piece of information in the bibliography, meaning that you are citing the original author.
APA is my expertise, but I am starting to learn Chicago.
