Do you follow anniversary traditions?
i was curious if people follow the anniversary traditions as far as gifting...(1st is paper, 2nd cotton etc...)
I did the first year or so when i got him something. the last two we didn't exchange.
and this year (our 5th) is wood.... we are normally away for our anniversary, but we are postponing the trip a bit this year so i wanted to try to get him something.. but i am lacking ideas this time. haha

Do you follow anniversary traditions?
I normally do not do anything for any anniversary, but I really wanted to step outside my comfort zone for the 5th and do boudoir pics. (Since the tradition is wood, I thought it was a cute and dirty take on it!) DH was so surprised and LOVED it and my confidence has boosted tremendously since. I didn't do them for our wedding - I don't know if you did, but if you didn't, they're definitely worth doing!

Do you follow anniversary traditions?
Yes we do. We don't spend a lot on each other but it's fun to think of ideas. We just celebrated our 6th this past weekend and it was iron and candy.

We normally do our vacation at or around that time (+ / - a month). For bigger years we do bigger vacations (so far 1st, 5th, and 10th). On the day of we make sure to do a nice dinner.
We don't get presents usually.

We only do small gifts and sometimes we just skip it and go out to dinner. I do remember for the 5th I got him a wood scented yankee candle lol because I couldn't think of anything. I also got him some stuff for the grill because our anniversary is in June.

Yes we try to do something little that follows the tradition. Tomorrow is our 8th and let me tell you Bronze/pottery or linen/lace is hard to figure out. For 5th year I got him cuff links that were made out of wood. Etsy is a great place to look for ideas. This year I got him a comic book that features the Man of Bronze.

Yes with something small
We also go out to dinner every year where we got married
And we used a bench as a guest book, so we recreate a picture sitting on the bench every year

We actually do exchange traditional anniversary gifts. I love being creative and thinking of something relating to the traditional gifts. This past year was our fifth anniversary and I got DH a wood for his golf set. We also usually do dinner.

Sort of a tangent, but can I ask if anyone has parties every year for their anniversary? My in laws expect cards and they encourage their children to throw them anniversary parties every year. Just immediate family (their kids and grandkids) but any and every old year. Not just milestone years. I find this incredibly odd. Is this normal to anyone?

What??? Every year?!? Not a chance. We may send a card to my parents and in laws, or we may not. But we say it and call it a day! No way we are throwing parties every single year.
