Do you love your 5 pt harness booster seat? Looking for recs
I feel like I've asked this question before, lol, but maybe it wasn't here? But if I did, please forgive me! We are going to start *seriously* looking to get a 5 pt booster for DS (4 yo) this weekend. If you LOVE yours, care to share? We will need two, one for my car that will be used most of the time and one for DH car that will be used way less frequently (so I'd prefer to not break the bank on the one that will be in DH car.)
We randomly tried out a couple at Target on our last visit there, and found that on many of them, there didn't seem to be enough room between the seat back and the buckle. I don't know if it's because he is so tall for his age, but I'm afraid I am going to keep pinching him! Are they all like this? I feel like this wasn't an issue with my DD years ago; but while she was tall, she was still much smaller than him at this age.
Also, is Babies R Us a good place for selection, or is Buy Buy Baby better? Or someplace else? I can purchase online, but really want to at least go to a store to try them out to make sure they fit him well... that fear of pinching him in the crotchal zone is making me nervous.
Thanks for any suggestions!

We really like our Graco nautilus. Like most seats, it does have two slots for that strap so you can move it further out. I had to move dd's sometime around age 3.5

We have a Britax Pioneer which we (and DD) love. We chose that one based on many recommendations on here. We bought them on Amazon.

DS is 5 and in a britax frontier. it goes from 5 point harness to a high back booster (using the car's seat belt). i really like it a lot-- and he says its comfortable LOL we also have a spare seat thats an Evenflo Maestro- same thing. it goes from a 5 point harness to a high back booster. its good and was about $70 from target... so it would make a good seat that you don't use frequently ( we use it for when we travel bc its lighter to take with us on the plane, or if my parents watch him for a couple days or something....)

We did the frontier... Pioneer looks great too. I like the britax 5 pt harness seats. They just feel sturdy & I do a LOT of driving. They are super easy to install & although a teensy bit wide, they are comfy for the kids.

My 7 year old is on the smaller side, but he's still in the 5 pt harness in the Britax Frontier.

We have the britax. It's the cheaper of the pioneer vs frontier (I always forget, lol).

We have the Evenflo Platinum Evolve for my daughter. We love it. They carry it at Babies 'r us and you can use a 20% off coupon if you have it. Very good buy for the money.

What's his current weight and height? What size shirt does he wear? Are their any other seats in the back of your vehicle? What vehicle is it? Do you have a budget in mind?
If he is taller or you want to keep him harnessed longer, a britax would be better since they have higher harness slots then the other seats mentioned.

Still looking! Lol
He is currently four years old, approx 43/44 inches tall and at his last weight check, he was 38 lbs. He wears, typically, a 4T or 5T shirt. No other seats in the car. It's a Fusion. Budget isn't really a thing, I guess. I'll pay what I have to, though I would prefer to not have to buy anymore big seats again because he outgrew it if I can help it.
The problem I keep finding is that even on the second/furthest opening, many of the seats seem tight to clip in between the legs. The Britax at Target seemed ok, as well as the baby trend hybrid one at target. Didn't get out to babies r us yet. What else should I look at?
I wish there was a "car seat calculator", where you put in your kids weight, height, age and your budget and it returns all the seats that match your criteria (and reviews too!!!). For car seat idiots like me
Thank you for your help!

Do not get the baby trend seat. It is horribly confusing to install. I wouldnt recommend it to my worst enemy (I'm sorry to anyone who's reading this that may have it. If you do, please read and re read the manual to confirm that you have it installed properly as it is not a simple installation)
Have you looked at the Graco Tranzitions? It will get him to approx 6 years old or so before you would need to convert to the high back booster function.
The britax seats are great. They are $ though. But they last longer in harness mode then other seats because of their higher weight/height limits. So depending on how long you would want to keep him harnessed (the minimum I recommend is 5.5-6 years old since kids typically lack the impulse control needed to sit properly before then)

Thanks! I had no idea about the Baby Trend seat being difficult to install! Thank you for pointing that out. I was leery to begin with, because I had never heard the brand before (but then again, it is possible that I just live in a cave!)
I will go to BRU this weekend (hopefully) to check out the Britax options and the Graco Tranzitions.
Only one thing about the Britax concerns me... I've read that it is difficult to wash the cover? Does anyone find this to be true?
Thanks again for all the help!
