Sad. Why anyone supports someone who openly makes fun of someone with developmental disabilities is beyond me. I know I say that a lot, but he is a disgrace and an embarrassment.
I have to tell you and I know no one wants to hear this, but I think so many people are like him. Look at his board alone with all the judgemental posts and people making fun of others at times. People don't want a scummy politician anymore. They want someone who tells it like it is and gets things done and is not in it for the money.
I am NOT saying in ANY way I agree with anything he has said or done BUT I do think that many Americans feel the same way and he just says it out loud.
That's one of the big problems.... He DOESN'T tell it like it is (most of what he tells are lies, Internet rumors, or completely in contradiction of what he said moments earlier), he DOESN'T get things done (he's declared bankruptcy numerous times, he's getting sued for creating a fake university, many of his businesses have failed. He also hasn't mentioned HOW he's going to "get things done".), and he IS in it for the money. He's not self-funding his campaign. He loaned the money to his campaign, and now he announced that he's taking PAC money, so he's going to make a personal profit off of this campaign, and he'll be beholden to all of the big donors to his PAC, just like everyone else.
Unfortunately, people take him at his word, and don't bother researching what he says to find out the truth about him (or any other candidate).
He's as dirty a politician as all the rest.....
Exactly. People think he's some refreshing breath of fresh air, when in reality, people just like that he says all the shit they wish they could say. They wish they could say to build a wall to keep out immigrants, they wish they could say that people on welfare are trash and draining the economy of its resources, they wish they could make fun of people without reproach, they wish they could be an outright racist and bigot.
But they know if they do, people will say they are racist, a bigot, a hateful human being. He says it and he's hailed as some national treasure because he's rich enough to not care, and his liveliehood doesn't depend on keeping those disgusting ideologies inside.
And so I say, have at it. If people think the most unqualified person in the history of the universe is fit to be president, don't come crying when we're in WWIII and he's giving the orders.

Honestly he will have enough people backing him to help him out. He already said last night he would pick someone who is a politician already to be his vice president.
Do I think all of this is a good idea, no but I have to say I can absolutely not vote for Hillary. So I am stuck if I want to exercise my right to vote.

Really? You think most people have thoughts of making fun of someone with a developmental disability? I'm going to give most people the benefit of the doubt, and say they wouldn't behave that way.

If you want to exercise your "right to vote" and don't *want* to vote for Hillary or Donald, you vote independent. That is just a silly reason to vote for someone you don't support.

Truthfully I do not buy this argument. I find it's an easy excuse when people just don't care.
If people really, truly cared about the state of our country there is no way Trump would be a nominee. There is never going to be a perfect candidate (and honestly, Bernie Sanders, for all his imperfections and faults is likely the closest you will EVER get to a true politician for the people who is selfless and working for the greater good) but people who truly want to see change would not be sitting around saying we're screwed. They would be out trying to change the corruption, not supporting someone who is the most morally and ethically corrupt of all. Change doesn't happen overnight but no one wants to put in the hard work to make it happen. They think a president can save a magic wand and our country will be perfect. The simple truth of the matter is there are so many deep, real issues plaguing our country that people just choose to ignore.

Re: Kasich is out
Here is a different perspective for people asking how on earth people can vote for Trump, as I work with many people who are Trump supporters. I think part of Trump's appeal to people is that he is really not a true "Republican" in the historic sense of the party. He appeals to more of the middle - he is more liberal than your typical conservative candidate regarding social issues and yet he is still fiscally conservative in that he understands that an economy needs xyz to work better and we can't keep having uncontrolled spending and entitlement programs. Also, I think his message of "America First" truly resonates with a lot of people who feel like America has gone down the wrong path in taking care of every other country but not its own citizens and veterans.
Also, Trump's lack of experience is not really a concern as let's face it, it's mostly the President's staff and advisors that run the show, he is just a figurehead. Trump can no sooner build a wall or ban Muslims any more than Bernie Sanders can give free college or Hillary Clinton can actually back up her words with her actions (sorry couldn't resist).
That being said, I despise how he treats/talks about/makes fun of certain people and groups and I know that the Trump supporters I know do not in any way agree with or approve of that behavior. It is embarrassing to me that this is the behavior that other countries see when they look at America. But just because certain other candidates have better and more polite skills in speaking publicly does not mean that they aren't lying, corrupt criminals. Is that really any better?
And, what were the Republican's choices? Remember, these are primaries so it's not like people chose Trump OVER Sanders or Hillary (yet). Nobody wanted another Bush and other candidates were way too conservative - Republicans aren't realizing that this country's views are shifting to the left and that a candidate's conservative stances on gay rights, abortion etc. are enough for people not to vote for that candidate. The Republicans did themselves in. I do not believe Trump can beat Hillary but he is really the only one that has any chance of coming close and people hate Hillary just enough to vote for Trump.
So.....just a different perspective on WHY people are voting Trump.

I believe Kasich was the best nominee but he had no voice so no one saw what he brought to this campaign.

I'm a Republican and I have to say I am shocked that it's turned out that he is the last man standing. I really didn't think he would make it even half as far as he has. While I agree that all of the candidates in this entire campaign are terrible, the fact that HE was able to get the nomination...against candidates who were much more competent and qualified....it's just honestly mind boggling.
Yeah I don't get it. At all.

I did and said so to my husband. We live in New York and are much more liberal in terms of our views. However, in MANY parts of the country, there are openly racist, mysogynistic, disgusting people out there. And not just in other parts...we have it here too. He is appealing to them! And unfortunately, unless it is a Bernie/Hillary ticket, I also think he will win. Because people hate Hillary more than trump.

I am bleeding heart and none of these candidates struck me as great
I was actually intrigued by Trumps speech last night. Then I had a dream that I told my BF maybe I should vote for Trump that maybe he won't be so bad lmao!
Basically I feel that he is going to win. At the same time I am not worrying about it like the world is going to end if he wins. We will be fine.

Oh come on. Stop trying to take everything I say as a personal attack. I'm speaking generally - I never said, Gina you are wrong. You're absolutely entitled to your opinion And certainly don't have to like any candidate. I'm not stopping anyone from engaging - but people could try engaging themselves a little more than just spouting off lines they think make them sound so politically ambivalent. I think a lot of times people think of the government and politics as some kind of abstract being - it affects us but in a very indirect way. I don't think people truly realize the deeply powerful and far reaching effects of politics and how what our government does or does not do today will have a huge impact on the world our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will inherit. That's why Trump is such a threat - I don't give a crap if he wants to spout such disgusting rhetoric, but the leader of country cannot and should not denigrate his or her own people and treat them like dispensable commodities.
I am not going to sit idly by and become collateral damage because people think he "tells it like it is."

Also, "partial birth abortion" is not even a real medical term. It was coined by a right to life group in the mid 90''s. You can read more about it HERE

I would NEVER vote for Hillary bc she supports partial birth abortions, so Trump it is for me
I totally agree... Horrible (NARAL loves her). I'd never vote for her for her radical abortion views.

Re: Kasich is out
I read something today that said Donald in not the problem per se but a symptom of the problem. I kind of have to agree, its how he got to the top. I cant think of any other reasons this is happening.

That makes sense. It's like drinking too much isn't the problem it's the symptom of problems.

When Donald Trump is considered "normal" you know we're in the shitter.
Just a question.
I think we are in the shitter no matter what
Truthfully I do not buy this argument.
All I did was ask a question about kasich and yet you sit there and say I am making excuses
Am I not allowed to dislike all the candidates? I never post my political opinions on here bc I don't feel like being interrogated
I have so many questions and would love to post on here and ask since so many are better informed than I am
But the condescending remarks, the make you feel little or stupid comments stop me and probably so many from discussing and maybe even learning a thing or two
Perfectly said Gina
Are you planning to run for office?
