Agoda.com for booking hotel
Has anyone used this site? I never heard of it. I was about to book a hotel through priceline and it said it was booked through this website. When I went to Agoda website I saw a better deal but never booked with them.

I will never ever ever book hotels through third party websites - the red tape, cancellation/refund policies and lack of customer service turn me off. I handle lots of travel arrangements and will only use a third party site if they have an unbeatable deal or lenient refund policies. Booking through the hotel directly is the easiest option.

I agree 100%. And usually, the prices through the hotel directly are just abuot the same. And if you are a AAA member, a lot of hotels offer discounted rates for AAA. So I find better deals that way too. Plus like PP said, I don't trust 3rd party sites- too many horror stories.

I hear you. I would rather and usually always book through hotel. I do want to be able to cancel a few days before in case something comes up or a find a better price. I did book a hotel in Fla through Priceline and it worked out, but would rather book a hotel directly.

I usually book directly as well but, this past winter I booked through Expedia (the hotel that we had wanted to go to told me there were no rooms available).
I purchased the insurance as well and unfortunately, we had to cancel - I had no problems getting everything refunded (they even refunded the airline fee which I was told would be a credit).
