job vent
So I had an interview at a LI school for a teaching job last week, and got called back to do a demo lesson, which was yesterday. I shared this bit of info with one of my close coworkers at my current school (nyc school), and I guess i shouldn't have....Today, another coworker came up to me and asked if I was interviewing around, because rumor was going around that I was. I just denied it and said I didn't know where that came from and she didn't question it... I'm still really upset that this could potentially get to one of my supervisors. I called out sick both days for the interviews, and if they find out I'm not sure what they'll do.
I haven't gotten a job offer from the school I interviewed at, and I'm starting to get really nervous about the possibility of not getting the job. I'm 6 months preggo, so I already had a bad feeling about not getting the job to begin with. The stress of possibly jeopardizing my current job right before having a baby is now starting to get to me
Sorry, I just needed to vent because i'm so upset right now. I guess you really can't trust anyone...

That's frustrating. I would keep denying it if anyone asks until you're offered a position.

my plan was to keep it quiet until the summer time and tell my principal then. I am only required to let them know 30 days in advance.. I guess I will have to tell her sooner if the rumors continue to swirl :(
But yes, I will definitely continue to deny. I'm just so pissed off!

I wouldn't worry. They can speculate All they want, but no one has proof that you weren't sick those days. Hopefully you get the job and don't have to worry. I don't know what kind of school you're in, but my school doesn't care if you're interviewing. They actually post job listings for us...
Also if you wouldn't mind, could you FM me some of your interview questions? I'm really trying to get it if my current job and I want to be as prepared as possible in case something comes along.

I don't mind sharing them here- I wasn't really asked any specific questions. - I was asked to tell them a bit about myself and my background in teaching - I was asked how many IEPs approx. that I've written (special ed position) - They asked why I was looking for a job if I already had one in the city - They asked me to explain what they would see if they came into my classroom
and I think that was it! The first round was a table interview with 3-4 teachers and an administrator. I was in there for no more than 5-7 mins. Then, I got called the demo lesson. The demo was 40 mins long and the same group of people came in to watch. They sat in the back of the room and observed me, and then thanked me for coming in and I was off!
I didn't really get much feedback after the demo lesson, so I have no idea what they thought! I think they liked it, though..
