Ever use a headhunter?
Just wondering what your experiences are good or bad. Cost? Success? Frustration? TIA

Ever use a headhunter?
Eh. No cost. They get a fee if you get the job and are there a certain amount of time.
I felt that some would send me on interviews I clearly wouldn't be interested in or was over qualified for bc they were so hung up on getting their fee.
Some are better than others. If you do use one make sure to use one that specializes in your specific field (finance, fashion, etc,)

Re: Ever use a headhunter?
In My prior career I used a head hunter. One job I did not get because the fee was based off my salary and the job did not want to pay the high fee. It was a percentage of my salary. The next job I got. Then 4 years later I randomly found a job through a head hunter. It turned out to be that the head hunter was my bosses brother.

Ever use a headhunter?
Dh's current position was through a head hunter. Best experience ever but he is in engineering. I'm in finance and would use one as well. Some are free to use since they get a percentage of your salary if you are hired. My friend who works in sales paid for one and he found it opened many doors he wouldnt have had access to.

I wouldnt rely solely on a headhunter. Many companies dont use them anymore.

Re: Ever use a headhunter?
The job I currently have I got through a headhunter and it was an excellent experience! She found me on LinkedIn herself and I was very glad she did because she was able to open a lot of doors for me that would not have been opened otherwise. Forget open, I wouldn't even know those doors existed.
A good, professional headhunter who connections, who knows what she/he is doing is golden and I have met a few like that who really helped me in my career!

DH got his current job through a head hunter. He used this person as a recommendation from his brother. Made the process much better for him

This - especially since you can search on your own more easily over the internet.

Re: Ever use a headhunter?
When I first graduated college, all the calls I got back when applying for jobs were from headhunters (I guess they were posting the job listings that I was applying to), it was annoying for me though because I had to commute from LI to NYC often just for the inital meeting w/ the headhunter before they would send me for the interview. My first job I did get through a headhunter though, it started out as temp and turned to perm.

Re: Ever use a headhunter?
I've used several.
I generally aim for those with experience in my industry. So I interview them. I have always had good experiences with them.
They are free, to me.
A lot of the places I worked for only work with head hunter so I would have never gotten the interview without.
I've been placed 3 times with a head hunter.

Re: Ever use a headhunter?
I've used them pretty much my whole career.
In my experience, they are a hit or miss. You either have a great one, or you don't. It is always best to go by recommendation It is a very cutthroat industry because there are so many of them out there, and many employers hire multiple agencies for the same opening.
Free for us, because hustle for you. Remember, they get paid if you are ultimately hired, so they are going to try their best to get you a job.
I've been placed about 3 times in my career through a headhunter. My 2 most recent positions were through an employee recommendation and a direct application.

I wouldn't soley rely on them you're right, but I figure why not try a different avenue.
