Help with Mac Book - Updates etc!!

Can anyone help me.

I have a Macbook that I use for work. I am not sure when I got it but its a few years ago. The only information that I can find is that its Mac OS X Version 10.5.8.

I cannot install any updates - for ex flash player says its not supported by my operating system. This morning I tried to navigate through a banking system page and it said its not supported. I tried to download the latest Chrome version and it would not allow me to.

Do I need a new laptop or can I update my operating system? I have tried to get help from the Apple website but guess what? my system does not support some pages on their website.

Ugghh...

Anyone know anything about this?

What that means is your a running on - probably - Leopard. There have been about 6 updates since Leopard came out. The are now running El Capitan - which is OS X 10.11. So, yes, you need to update your Operating System.

Leopard is the OS from like 2007, so your OS is almost 10 years old.

Here is the how to update Link from Mac. Depending on the year and model you can probably update.

2009 or later model MacBook - you are good. 2007 and some 2008 can be depending on model.
