grandma... please pray UPDATE at bottom of OP (good update)
i just got word, through the grapevine, that my grandmother's diabetes is a little out of control. so much so, that she fell.
they haven't been able to completely control her sugar levels.
my heart is breaking. she is NOT supposed to get old and frail. she's my grandmother and she's the toughest woman i know.
that stubborn ox, in 1955 - in the dominican republic, out on rural land, told my SOB of a grandfather to kiss her ass. without speaking english, she properly brought herself and her children to this country. worked every day of her life. she's like a second mother to me.
she is NOT supposed to get sick. she can't do this to me. her 91st birthday is in just a few days. she's supposed to wait until i become a grandmother so she can see my baby's babies. she is SUPPOSED TO LIVE FOREVER. she is not allowed to be this sick.
please pray, light a candle, say a chant naked under the moon... whatever you do, please. i beg you. please pray that this passes quickly and the matriarch of our family will be ok in just a few days.

today is my grandmother's 91st birthday!!!
i just got off the phone with her and she is doing well; amazing!! she's back to her old self.
seems that there was a change in one of her medications that gave her an adverse reaction. that then raised her blood sugar. but she is GOOD.
she talked, and talked, and talked. we talked about getting older, about DS and the military, about memories and our saturdays when i was a little girl, about how the dr gave her "permission" to have another birthday and a small piece of cake, and about how i need to visit.
she lectured me...lol
it was the best lecture i've had in a long time!
again, thank you all for keeping my old lady in your thoughts and prayers.
i know that i won't have her forever, and this scare reminded me that i do need to go see her. so, i'm off today and i will be posing for a new passport picture!

Saying a prayer...I unexpectedley lost my grandmother 3 weeks ago today, I never thought she would die either. Even though I'm an adult, it sucks.

i'm so sorry for your loss.
Thank you and thank you to luvmykids . I won't lie, it's really rough. But hopefully your grandma will pull through and be fine. Diabetes is no joke, but hopefully they can get her regulated.

work has had me very busy and haven't been around for a bit.
i've heard that grandma is back home and being watched closely, but out of the worst danger.
i'll be calling her first thing in the morning... tomorrow that old, stubborn woman will be celebrating her 91st birthday.
i'll be able to have an accurate account of everything that's going on, plus a tongue-lashing for not calling more often lol. it will be the best scolding i ever receive.
