gifts... are you ever really honest?
if you receive a gift you don't like, don't care for, and/or just hate...
are you ever really honest about disliking it so that the gift giver can know what are good and bad gifts to give?

With my mom, sure. She always asked us to be honest about anything we didn't like so we could return/exchange it. It's better than it not being used. Everyone else, I'm just grateful for the thought.

DH and my parents, yes. Everyone else, no.
Right when we got married, DH had bought me a bunch of jewelry - diamond tennis bracelet and pave diamond earrings. I am really picky with my jewelry and don't wear much of it. I really struggled with telling DH that I hated the new earrings he bought for me. I think I said money was tight since we had just bought a new home, paid for the honeymoon, etc, which was all true. Can't remember if I actually told him that I hated the earrings.
I accepted any and all gifts throughout dating and engagement with gratitude.
We've been married for almost 10 years and have 2 kids now. He has returned items I have bought for him and vice versa. No hurt feelings. What's his is mine and what's mine is his.

The only person I'd ever be 100% honest with is my DH. With anyone else I'd just be gracious and say thank you.

Theres not alot i dont like. I appreciate all gifts. My dh on the other hand will tell anyone if he doesnt like it, not in a mean way. Our family knows to keep every single receipt!

I'm ALWAYS honestly glad to just be given a gift. Truly. I know it sounds corny as hell but it's true. 40yrs old and I still think any small gesture is kind. I mean giving me nothing is also kind in some ways LOL
So yes I'm honest. Thank you for your gift because HONESTLY you didn't have to.
God knows I'm horrible about gift giving. I just forget or don't know what to get. Then when I find something its totally random but has tons of deep thought and meaning for me.
I've been given a box of club crackers as a gift. Odd as heck but I was grateful.
I've gotten gifts I don't like or want but really, must be nice to have things you don't want instead of wanting things you don't have.
Meh I'm a freak.

No way - I just can't disappoint someone. Unless it was something really expensive and I wouldn't want it to go to waste but that has never happened.

Depends on who it is. With DH, my parents and my IL's, yes I am. If it's clothes especially I'm honest. I'm not going to say I like it and just not wear it or not be able to return it.
Others, I don't say a word.
