Wifi and travel
Hi, this may be a naive question lol, but I'm clueless. Soon we are driving down south with the kids and considering purchasing them iPads for the trip. What will they be able to access in the car without wifi? addionally, is there a way to have w wireless access I on the car if that makes sense?! Thanks??

Re: Wifi and travel
I have a Mifi device through Verizon that provides wifi wherever I am. Work pays for mine and I believe it's $40/month, though I'm not sure if that's with a corporate discount or not. I love it!

Re: Wifi and travel
Most phones can become a wifi hotspot, but it uses your cellphone data allotment. The tablets can then connect to your phone to access the internet. It's fairly easy to do through the menu system.

We have unlimited data on our cell phones so we tether the iPad to it.
Our iPad is only wifi so we can't get a data plan for it. If you don't have a large data plan on your phones I would not suggest this as you burn through data quickly.

Does thus cost extra? I pay $20 for my ipad data (separate from phone plan), but I have unlimited cell plan.

We have a cellular plan on our ipad. You have to pay extra for the device and then pay for the data. I usually turn the cellular data off before I give it to DD. She has a lot of apps she can play. I also downloaded some of our disney movie digital copies. DD would get frustrated she couldn't watch Disney Junior, so I had to remove that app every time I turned off the data :).
