Tenant rights - hot water
I would ask for the rent to be prorated. Technically you have until the end of the month. You can't stay there and you are paying for it. Also, I would only ask if I was absolutely sure I was getting my deposit back and if you were leaving on good terms meaning that you were not ending your lease early.
I say this as a landlord of 2 properties.

I have let it go. I have enough other things in my life to worry about - was just asking if anyone knew what my rights were. I am moving out on Saturday and paid for all of February - it was not prorated.

I'm not ending my lease early. I have lived there for over 8 years, have painted the place, carpeted the entire place, put in a new dishwasher and am leaving the washer and dryer that I own. I will not be happy if I don't get my deposit back!
