Sales Pitch while booking hotel.

So I booked a few days stay at a hilton garden hotel today and got transferred to some sort of sales department after I had finished my reservation. They proceeded to offer me a stay at several of their hotels for 4 nights for $99 in return for my attending a 2 hour "presentation" on some timeshare or something. I declined as I am so conservative with these type of things.

Am I missing out on a great deal or was I going to sign myself into endless calls and sales pitches on buying a timeshare from them?

Yes. You are missing out on a great deal. I got a week in Hawaii last year for $800.

Really? and what did you have to do in return for the cheaper rate? How do they choose who they offer it to?

Nothing is worth sitting through a 2 hour sales pitch while on vacation. I can hear that kind of bullshitt at work. No thanks. I will gladly pay full price to avoid that

Re: Sales Pitch while booking hotel.

It's a lot longer than 2 hours.
If you really want to do it, set a timer for whatever the promised time is and leave when it goes off. It's a high pressure sales pitch and they don't want to take no for an answer.
I own a timeshare and do the above when I go for the "owner's updates" every year.
We along with our friends get a $150 gift certificate each that we put towards a nice dinner on our last night together.

I've done the Marriott presentation twice. But we were genuinely interested in potentially purchasing so maybe that's why I enjoyed it. We didn't end up buying in the end...But the pitch, although high pressure, was informative and interesting. Did not take two hours..maybe an hour an twenty but they provided breakfast/coffee/ tour of the grounds. So not terrible. Just be ready to say no if you don't want it.
