Going Rate for Home Nurses

Does anyone have any idea what the going hourly rate is for a nurse that would care for an elderly person, either part-time or live-in? This would be someone independent, not from an agency.

$12-$15 is what we were quoted for an aide for my Grandmother - registered nurses (to administer medical care) were more.

There are aides/companions and then Nurses.

I was told the first will bathe, light housework, drive to appts, shop etc.

nurses change dressings, give Meds etc.

Through an agency it's 20-25/hour

Private, not through an agency, probably $13-15/hour. Through an agency it is usually $18- 22/hour.

Also, you're probably looking for a home attendant, not a nurse. Nurses are $$$.

OK thanks that's helpful. I think we are looking for a companion, not a nurse so that's good to know the difference.

For a home aid/companion we contacted one person for DH's sister who first asked for $150/day but then agreed to $100/day

ETA: that was for a live in position, 24/7
