Weird work situation - WWYD?
Thank you everyone - thanks for letting me vent and for giving me good advice to keep moving forward and ignore the drama as much as possible

Re: Weird work situation - WWYD?
I'd just do your job. I mean... the things she says you "can't" do- do you have everything you need to do them without speaking to her? If so, then I'd just do it and if she says anything about it- I'd say "Director/boss/partner/whoever told me to take care of this, so I did. If there's a problem, please feel free to speak to them about it." I wouldn't necessarily go to your boss again about it- though I'm surprised she's basically letting this girl ignore her direction completely- but I wouldn't hesitate to let your boss know it's still going on if she asks. As for her "personal relationship" with the bosses... I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole.

what exactly is the relationship with the partner? I would be wary of her going back and saying negative things if they have a close relationship. That being said - i say do your job, keep your head down. Tell her the director / partner asked you to do these things. Keep the director in the loop - not complaining - just FYI want to let you know whats going on and this is how I'm handling it.

I would do your job (and it sounds like you've been doing great) and just be as civil as I could to her. That sure sounds like a sticky situation though.
She sounds insecure and threatened and in many ways, I can see why. She's young and probably wandering around, trying to have concrete plans and a "place" and things aren't working out for her. Maybe once they give her a position again, she will be good to go.
And yeah - loop in your partners (can they be copied on email? Not sure if she's talking to you via email or what).
Also - do you have annual raises or reviews? I would maybe use that to define your role - what it is and what it isn't

Re: Weird work situation - WWYD?
Since your director knows about the situation and is addressing it there is really not much more you can (or should) do other than what you are already doing.
Ignore her as much as possible until things are resolved.
IF there is an instance where she interferes in a significant way and tries to prevent you from doing your job, I would send an email to the director (cc'ing this girl) asking for clarification on the job description because there seems to be some confusion about whether you should be doing a specific task of not. Put that in writing and it might scare her into backing off. But aside from that I would stay quiet and stay out of it.

I would just do your job. Do not tell her what you are doing. If she offers "advice" tell her thanks I appreciate it and do what you think is necessary.
