So this is our first bill since owning the house- comes today (happy holidays!!) um it was $1906.37 we have a 1275sq ft house and are gone 15-16 hours a day. How is this possible? We have gas in our house so everything is gas. I am besides myself right now. Has this happened to anyone? I saw a guy come last week to read it caught him trying to peek through my fence- yeah right like you can see that from there.
I called they are closed until Monday. What the hell do I do? This must be an error!!!!
Update: I call this morning to inquire about my bill- customer service was like opps thanks for calling we entered the reading in wrong. Thanks for bringing it to our attention and letting us know. We will send you a new bill! Thank god it's an error but like really? I need to point it out, no one caught on?! Can't wait to see what this new bill will be!!!

Sounds like an error or they are somehow confusing you with previous owners who may have owed that.
Hold out until they open and you can get it all straightened out. Don't panic. It's obvious it isn't accurate.

It was an actual read. We have lived here 30 days!! It was for 29 days of usage! And like I said we are NEVER home

Thanks everyone. I'll try not to freak out. It just has to be an error, hopefully easily fixed. Especially because our gas bill was only $79 for the month so I know it shouldn't be $1900 that's more than my mortgage payment!

I'm guessing the past owners owe, your meter is broken or the decimal point is off. Don't freak out till Mon.
