Roman shades-Budget Blinds
Did anyone ever use budget blinds for Roman shades? I like the idea of someone coming to your house to help you pick out the fabric. How was your experience and which one did you use? TIA!

Re: Roman shades-Budget Blinds
Got a quote from Budget Blinds
They were lovely - the girl that came - and very kind, helpful... But the price!
So, I called in two other companies. One was a "mom and pop" who was less money than Budget but more than the third company I had in.
Third company was Empire Carpets and Blinds. I highly highly HIGHLY recommend requesting Gigi as your salesperson. She was WONDERFUL. So much so that my mother, sister, and friends have used her -- probably close to six times since I have used her. I did roman shades. My sister did roman shades and some pleated. My mom did plantations and some romans. All were Hunter Douglas. They do offer a more bargain brand now. You'd have to have her in for a free consult and she'll break it all down for you.
But I cannot sing her praises enough and she insists on picking her own installers out of the guys who work for Empire. She has "favorites" and each time the installs were FLAWLESS. Perfect. And very nice guys that you felt comfortable having in your home.
I suggest doing your HW like I did. Get three or so people in -- give them the same specs and get a price quote. Then compare apples to apples and you can absolutely go to company A and say company B quoted me less and haggle with them! Why not?? I did!
But my highest rec among all else is Empire.

Thanks I will look into it. Silly question how do the roman blinds look from the street? Reason I ask I had Ronan blinds from jc penny's and it had a mesh back and looked horrible from the street .

They do not have a mesh back but SOME - depending on the style you choose - show some of the "strings" -- I guess you would call it? But that depends on what you choose. If you were concerned about the look from the outside you would definitely mention that to your salesperson and they would walk you through your options.
It is totally a legit concern. Especially if they are in the front of the house.

Re: Roman shades-Budget Blinds
On a referral from Smithtown Moms, I just used Dave Skokol from Budget Blinds. I did 2 Roman Shades, for very large windows (86 inches wide). I upgraded fabric and I found him to be reasonable.
Maybe call him for one of your estimates 631 392-7444.

I don't have roman blinds but, I had a good experience using Budget Blinds (but, they did give my friend a ridiculous quote).
