Anyone else have family like this?

Anytime I post a pic of my dd on fb or instagram dh's aunt immediately comments. "She's so cute, she looks like her father." She's adorable, she looks just like her father.

Thanks aunt so and so, I guess I'm an ugly slug who had nothing to do with my kid's DNA. Cracks Dh and I up.

She also like to sometimes name dh, not like a tag but like there is no confusion who dh's dad is. Like we haven't been married for 6 years, I think everyone knows who dd's dad is and no I don't have 12 baby daddies.

Ugh family. Gotta love them.

Today's comment was. "Hi cutie, wish your parents would bring you to visit. You look just like your daddy (insert dh's name)

Oh yeah thats my MIL to a T!.. She comments, omg I miss her so much, I wish mommy and daddy would bring her to see me. She lives 15 minutes away and when we go to visit she ignores DD the entire time. I call it her "FB life" she likes to project this look of wonderfulness that is not true.

I have something a little different. My grandmother will post on all of our pictures exactly how she fits in. "My beautiful granddaughter," "My beautiful great grandson," etc. On everyone's picture. Every single time.

Yes my mil says my girls look like Dh. I actually don't see it at all. Neither does any of his other family. My oldest looks like my moms twin. When my youngest was throwing a tantrum she said oh my son never had tantrums she must get that from your side. I just shrug it off and don't really care.

Yes! I get the exact same comments about my son and it does get old. I get it, he looks a lot like my husband, but every single comment does not need to reference that. Sometimes you can just say he's cute!

I don't have FB but I get similar comments to my face or in other ways. I totally know what you are talking about -- it is funny how often people say it and how they seem to say it, the same person, again and again and again lolol!!! Right?!

And OP: I'm going to tell you something from my life and my experience that will show you that no matter what, SOMETIMES, people want to believe what they want to believe regardless of reality (LOL)..... Family members on my son's father's side feel my son looks "EXACTLY" like his father. And honestly? All along I wanted a boy who looked just like a little version of his dad - I thought that was adorable and I still do! So, it's not even like it bothers me but I do feel like it might be wishful thinking on daddy's family's side because my son, don't get me wrong he's definitely a mix, but he is majority me and I never said anything but randomly, all of a sudden, a few months back, one of daddy's Aunt's goes -- "I don't know guys, and I hate to break it to all of you, but I see nothing but Danielle" I was surprised they didn't kick her out of the family!!! LOL.

For months it was, Oh he's just like Vinny, Oh he's allllll Vinny, oh he's his twin! And it really always made me smile -- even after we divorced, I didn't care. I laugh sometimes when he does little things that reminds me of my ex-DH.

But it was like at this huge family event with 80 people and again, for the 1,000th time someone said how much Jude looks like Vin and it was like SCREECH record stop -- Vin's Aunt and Godmother comes out and goes "I don't want to burst your bubble but...." and then proceeds to say what I wrote above about how she sees nothing but me in Julian LMAO!!!! YOU COULD HEAR A PIN DROP. I just had to laugh.

In all fairness, *I*, see both of us - it depends. He was born with jet black hair but then it turned auburn like me. And he has one blue eye and one green eye which is so funny bc I have blue and dad has green so it was like he couldn't choose between us LOL.

But you guys judge for yourself...

Yes. All the time! But in all fairness, my DD is really my DHs mini me. She has my hair and lips and that is it! It has become a joke with our family.
My family says it too. The other day DH posted a baby picture of himself. My father posted a picture of my DD and said "No paternity test needed here" I find it comical.

I never get offended when people say DD looks like DH- because she does. You can't deny fact.

It is what it is, it's not something I can control, or it's not like I did something wrong when pregnant to 'cause' her to not look like me.

I never understood people who got offended by stuff like that. It's just luck of the draw who your child looks like.

I would get annoyed by the snide, passive aggressive comments you describe above though like oh wish your parents would bring you to visit.

Ha! One of DH's older cousin's does this all the time! Every picture I post, there she is chiming in about how much DC look EXACTLY like DH! and how handsome DH is and how DS is his twin to the tee.

Funny thing is the majority of people say our children have my features with DH's coloring, even strangers tell us this when we are all out together. So her comments about DC being DH's twins make no sense...lol

She is a bit off in the brain department and I have had family members from DH's family email me telling me to ignore her.

Dd is Dh will my light coloring. She's adorable and she is all Dh. When my family tries to.tell me she looks like me because of her hair coloring I laugh because she is dh's grandmother's twin. This aunt just bothers of us and we are like we get it thanks.

My son is my husbands clone. Really like h looks nothing like me. At work when I bring him around they say "he must look like your husband". I am 100% Italian, dark features and skin. I have a blonde hair blue eyes white boy. Idk how it happened but he's adorable so I don't care.
My mom did ask me once if people ask me if I'm his nanny when we are out which I was like wtf am, but there is no denying he's alllll my husband.

I do hate the passive aggressive comments that mostly come from my sister in law in Florida. She tries to run everyone's lives up here and we just ignore her. But any time my mother in law writes on fb that she saw my son my sister in law immediately comments YOU NEED MORE OF THIS!

From birth my dc looked very much like my husband. but i've always said this - that my dc looks like my husband now, not really what my husband looked like as a baby/toddler. besides coloring, i don't think my dc and husband look that much alike if you compare similar age pictures. there's no denying dc is my husband's child, but dc is a good mix of both of us but probably more resembles my husband. if you ask MIL though, dc is my husband's EXACT mini me/twin/clone blah blah blah. MIL says all the time how dc looks JUST like my husband as a baby and i just nod and smile and silently disagree completely haha. It's a weird grandparent fascination/obsession with laying claim to your son's children i think - i'm no psychoanalyst but i think grandparents are a little more wacky when the grandchild is from a son rather than a daughter. my mother rarely tries to convince groups of people that my dc is my spitting image.... ftr

my MIL. I dont get offended at all... if she didnt have brown eyes she wouldnt look like me at all. I just think its weird that she has to say it over and over. She looked like me before the blonde hair started coming in.

I don't know anyone who does this on a constant basis, but I will never forget the day I showed my MIL the 3D sonogram of our daughter before she was born. She goes, "oh she has DH's forehead". I am sure the expression on my face was priceless, and I will never forget that dumb comment lol

My mil does something like this. On most of the pics I post of dd, She always has to throw something into her comment about how shes the grandma. "She loves to dance, Just like her grandma" "she love animals, just like her grandma" most kids and people like to dance and like animals. Or she will sign her comments, like a personal letter, "xoxo, GRANDMA" Its been 3 years...everyone knows she's the grandma by now. She even once said DD has hair just like grandma. Meanwhile, dd and I have the exact same hair type, straight and fine, while mil's hair is really thick and curly
