WWYD nail/waxing/beauty salon related
I like using the european wax center for waxing because they are clean and trustworthy and my experience has been great so far. However, they are expensive and not too close. So sometimes, when all I need is a lip wax and I'm already at my nail salon getting a pedicure or whatever, I use them. I swear, every single time I do, they try forcing me into an eyebrow waxing and the way they try to is by INSULTS! Today I said lip wax. They bring me back and she starts dusting my eyebrows with the powder. and i said oh no, just lip thank you. and she said no eyebrow? i said no. and she says "you need it". and other times they have said more insulting things- but along the lines of "but you need it!" but it's mostly their tone of voice. I honestly dont want their opinion of what I need, I want them to just do what I am paying for. It makes me not want to tip. Of course I always tip, but sometimes i'm so insulted I feel like I shouldn't. WWYD? How would you handle them? Ignore it? Not tip? Say something back?

Whenever I go for a mani pedi they always ask if that's all. Lip wax? No? Eyebrows? No. I always look at it as sales pitchy, but also insulting to insinuate I need it. Although they've never said but you need it.
I would say something back. Like, all I asked for is xyz, it's rude to say I need something else.
Or I'd just find a new place.

I swear its cultural. I've been to different places that have insulted me like that before, as if I'm not supposed to be offended. I was getting a mani once and the girl started saying "Only nails? No eyebrow?" To which I said yes. Then she looks at me disapprovingly and say harshly "But eyebrow no straight! I fix." I definitely wasn't letting her do it at that point.
I've never had another business try to sell me through insults, only nail salons.

Most of the time I assume they are trying to upsell you. It's a little annoying but if they do a good job with the service I want, I ignore it. Whenever I get my eyebrows threaded, they always ask about my lip. I have a few fine light hairs which I am fine with so I just always so no thank you.

They are just up selling and you have to understand that at most places there is a language barrier.
I just ignore it. If I got offended every time they said soemthing I would never be able to get my nails done anywhere

Agree with above. I have a girl at my hair salon who does my eyebrows and I never used my nail salon for eyebrows, they will still ask me. Every single time. And be like are you sure? Or once they asked if I wanted my lip and I was like Ive never done my lip, I have naturally blonde hair and to top it off Im not hairy AT ALL. I have never had anyone ask to do my lip before. But I know they are just trying to make more $. Its like when they push the spa pedicures on you and you tell them your not interested, do you know how many times they told me how badly I NEED it.

I understand trying to upsell to a spa pedicure or a leg massage, but I once got a pedicure next to a woman who they repeatedly asked if she wanted to have her arms waxed. She politely declined, and the woman giving her the pedicure kept telling her that her husband would like her better if she had her arms waxed and then brought over additional employees to show them her arms. It was so ridiculously rude. I don't consider that up selling or a language barrier. That's just plain being nasty.

Exactly. There is a difference between wanting to sell you extra services and downright insults.
