Nikon D3300
I've been searching for a new camera for a while now. I didn't want anything huge, but something good for birthday parties, family outings, vacations, etc. For Hanukkah DH bought me this camera from Costco. We usually don't exchange big gifts, but knew I've been looking so he saw the deal when shopping and thought we'd try it out. I am not big into photography, but this seems like a great camera so far. Any reviews? Worth keeping? So it easy to navigate? I still have to read more about it and all the features.
Thanks!

I like it. It's a good entry level DSLR. Easy to use. I upgraded the lens and am much happier with my photos now. The lens that came with the kit was ok but not great. I felt like it didn't perform that well indoors or in sub optimal lighting.

MIL was a professional photographer, and doesn't have the best things to say about nikon. My SIL (her daughter), is now taking up photography, and she got her the Canon EOS Rebel. She said Canon is a better brand

thats a matter of personal preference.
Ive been using Nikon DSLRs for 8 years. Never had a problem. Im not familiar with the 3300 itself. But as long as its new there really shouldnt be a problem with it. There are lots of resources online to help you learn to use it properly if you want. Or if you were just going to shoot in Auto.

If your in nassu or want to travel Berger brothers (a photo shop) has courses. I have the D3100- I also had canon. I personally like my Nikon better but again personal preferences. There's also tons of YouTube tutorials as is information on Pinterest. When I first started I would just go to one spot in a park and play around I learn. I like the features- not too different from the 3300. As you learn and explore features you can also purchase different lenses for various shoots. I think if photography is something your interested in its a great starter camera and would keep it.

I agree. I LOVE my Nikon and enjoy grabbing my MIL's Canon, but I prefer the Nikon pictures to the Canon pictures. The Canon is a bit more user friendly though, imo.
But read the manual, watch youtube tutorials, and have fun playing with it!
