near death experiences

At the risk of sounding like a a total loon , I was talking to someone and recalled this special on TV about people who had near death experiences. They all had similiar themes. I found the program and was doing some more reading up on it and listening to a few podcasts. I guess I sort of became intrigued, because one of the NDE people was a doctor and very pragmatic until this happened.

Has anyone here had one or know someone who has?

I have an older relative who has passed, but when they were younger, were very sick and was read the last rites. They always said they saw an angel-like being near them.

I've read and heard a few stories and they are so interesting & I even find them comforting. I'm not religious by any means, either.

When I was a child we were sitting around the table playing Pokeno. My aunt was choking on a piece of watermelon. She passed out. It eventually came up. Many years later she told us that she has passed through what would we considered "the tunnel" but it was all trees lined up with the branches making it tunnel like. She said there was a bright light at the end. She said it was peaceful and beautiful. I don't remember much else but she felt at peace. She has since passed.
