Which is more appropriate?

My best friend is having her daughters baby naming this weekend. I could easily give cash, probably $144. Or I was thinking of buying her the small Tiffany heart. I like the idea of the necklace because it's something she would always have. Which would be more appropriate?

I would give the necklace unless you think she needs the cash. My dd still has the jewelry she received and I am thrilled for it. The cash is in an account for college which is nice, but she will always have the jewelry.

They definitely don't "need" the cash

One of my close friends gave DD tiffany earrings for her christening. I loved it and thought it was so sweet and thoughtful. I would go with the necklace.

If they don't need the cash do the necklace. It's a beautiful gift and something they could display as well. Maybe get a small shadow box to put it in until she is old enough to wear it and have that engraved with the naming date.
