How often do you replace appliances? Would you just get a new dishwasher?
Our dishwasher is 3.5 years old and just broke. It costs $99 for GE to come out and give us an estimate. Then we have to pay for labor and parts.
Would you just get a new dishwasher or get it repaired?
Ugh. The tech can't even come until mid-next week. I can't live without our dishwasher for a week!

How often do you replace appliances? Would you just get a new dishwasher?
It depends on how much a new dishwasher would cost and whether or not I liked my old one.
We just got a new dishwasher bc we we're getting our kitchen redone and wanted a newer, more efficient, and more quiet dishwasher and it was around $350. It also has the buttons on top of the door instead of the outside which was a bonus bc DD was starting to reach the outside buttons and would shut the dishwasher off mid cycle lol.

This - we just got a new washing machine, it broke after 4.5 years... It would have cost us $500 to fix (and most likely would need more repairs in the future as it is getting older) or $600 for a new one.

My dishwasher was old and broke. We bought the one with the third shelf etc.
If THIS one broke I would fix it.

I replace things when they break...and the cost of fixing them doesn't justify itself when they're old.

I think a new one would cost us about $1k. I don't even know how much it will cost to fix ours. I'm guessing $99 plus ~$250 so $350.
I don't especially love our dishwasher. It is fine but nothing special. I think I want to just get a new one.

Average life expectancy is 8-10 years for a dishwasher. If it would cost more than 400 I would get a new one. Fwiw, we spent about 900 on a new Bosch dishwasher.
