Who should have final say?
This is a bit silly and not a big deal, but I'm curious. We are doing a photo shoot of all 3 grandkids for my MIL's Christmas gift. It was my bil's idea, so we are just along for the ride. I have 2 kids and bil has 1. So me and sil are going this week for outfits. I have 2 girls and she has one boy. I suggested Christmas pj's. Because I think it's cute and easy and we can get a lot of use out of the pj's. Sil is kind of eh on that idea. Which bothers me, I don't know why exactly. Both of our husbands are the children of our mil, so it's not like it's her mom or my mom.
Who should pick what they wear? What would you put them in!

If I was paying for a photo shoot, I would personally not have my DS in PJs. I prefer preppy clothes. He'd get a lot of use out of those since that's how I dress him almost every day.

Idk if someone should necessarily have "final say," but i think you should bother do dorm thing you'll be happy with.
Eta; could you do outfits and then a pj shoot?

I'm personally not a fan of professional photos in pjs so Ivan understand the other side of it. As far as who gets to choose, I think it should be a compromise.

I think the most closest to "standard" wins. I agree that I would not do pj's for a professional shoot. If you do want to do something slightly quirky, I don't think this is the situation for it when others are involved.

Try gymboree.
They are having a big sale (max price $17) & their stuff coordinates. With a coupon, it's even less.
I wouldn't be crazy about my kids in pjs either (we do have those pics, but they are of Xmas morning).

I don't think I'd like the idea of pjs either if I'm paying for a photo shoot so since regular holiday clothes would be more of the norm I'd go with that

im pretty sure you can do more than one outfit at target. I guess you could call to ask. I think pj pics for christmas are adorable
thats what our christmas card is (see my avatar pic) and it will be next year too, i already have matching PJs lol

It sounds to me like your feelings are hurt they didnt like your idea more than anything else. It doesnt seem like the pjs pic really has any meaning to you. So id let it go...
Personally im not a fan of pj photos... its cute to a certain age after that if im paying for professional photos im dressing up my dd...

I don't like pjs for professional photos an a child over age one. But it sounds like your feelings were hurt. I would figure out if you could do both regular and pj picks, but my first choice is for dressy photos.

I'm going to say majority rules.
Didn't know pjs for a shoot wasn't popular. This was last year. I also did it again this year but I did have them change to another outfit both times

We did this last year with SIL and she's very formal...she picked PJs for the cousins shot and it came out adorable. It's a huge portrait on MIL's wall and since they're 3,2 and 1 in the pic it's totally fine they're in PJs.

I agree. If it's a photo that is going to be framed and hung on the wall, I would go with formal, neutral, non-Christmasy outfits.
Could you do both pjs and formal outfits so everyone is happy? Then give MIL both sets in an album and let her pick which one she wants to enlarge and hang on her wall.
I'm sure they'll come out great whatever you decide.

My siblings do this for my parents twice a year. My one sister takes charge of outfits because the others just don't think/care about it.
At the shoot, they always have the photographer do sibling shots along with group shots. You can have your kids change into PJs and do pics of just them if you want.
I understand why she might not like the idea but it doesn't mean you can't still do it with your kids.

When you say you are "along for the ride" does that mean that you aren't contributing financially? If you aren't then I think your SIL should 100% pick the type of outfits.
If you are both contributing, I'd say that you should find a way to incorporate an outfit change and do 1 of each's choosing.

I agree with you. To answer a few questions, my Dh paid for the groupon and will be paying for the photos. I would like a say in what they wear. Maybe "final say" was the wrong expression to use. I just know we have different styles and I don't want to be steam rolled over.
