Can your employer ... (Jury duty question)
Can your manager/employer request that you try to postpone jury duty service due to business requirements?
Or is that illegal?
I thought it was.

Can your employer ... (Jury duty question)
My boss didn't want me to go due to a big project so he had HR write a letter day before I was to call in and I got a postponement for 6 mos. if HR wrote letter on my behalf I doubt it is illegal.

Re: Can your employer ... (Jury duty question)
I had this issue last year. Since you get one postponement, as far as I could tell, it isn't illegal unless they are asking you to do something illegal. They can't prevent you from attending entirely.
I ended up postponing, against my wishes. I wanted to go the 1st time. in October b/c it was only a 4 day week, and if I postponed, it wouldn't be until January, and i didn't want to deal with snow on top of jury duty, but it worked out ok.
I was incredibly annoyed though, especially, since when I said I could postpone once, my boss kept saying, "isn't it twice, it was twice when I went?" ( different county, years ago), so I thought they were going to give me problems the 2nd time.
