How much is your Salary?
I think this is a very very very broad question and won't really help to answer whatever lingering question you may have. There's so many factors. Part time , full time , freelance. Entry level career points, mid level, experienced. And it varies so much by industry. People make have taken salary cuts after recent economical hits the last 8 years or so. Some may have had to start all over or changed career paths.
Going by your other posts, if you feel you don't make enough, I would look for another job. Or think about the benefits you have that aren't included in pay (not having to commute to city, being close by, any flexibility u have, vacation time, if you like what you do and your coworkers. Etc).
Make a pro and con list.
If u spend most days trying to fit a circle through a square with your job and you get nowhere , it's time to pack it up and look for better.
But keep in mind you could have a high paying job with tons of stress and a **** of a boss, you know ?

Re: How much is your Salary?
I think there are huge differences with salaries over 100,000, especially on Long Island. Someone who makes 105k a year is living a very different lifestyle than someone making 175k, 200k or more. I would guess that of the people who said over 100, most are making between 100 and 130k and very few are making more than that. I could be totally wrong but I think it's more common to make over 100 but not too much over. I'm not sure what kind of information you're looking for so I don't know that it even matters but I wanted to throw it out there!

It was just simply a question, that is all. There have been many reports out this week about how LI has the most people in debt and late 90 days or more on their mortgages and other bills. That was all, nothing more.

Yes but debt and salary are two totally different things.... you could have a very high paying job with extremely high debt and have others that make 50,000 with no debt. It all depends on a person's spending habits

Re: How much is your Salary?
0 dollars because I'm home.
I read that article too OP. The cost of living here is insane. The property taxes are too high, everyone needs a car, and if you have to pay for Childcare, good luck it's a mortgage payment. I think you are wondering about what is the average income, maybe a better question would be household income?

Re: How much is your Salary?
Maybe if everyone on Long Island didn't have to drive huge gas guzzling SUVs and carry around $500 purses they wouldn't be so in debt. So many ppl live well beyond their realistic means.

I agree. Cost of living here is insane because LI is viewed as a bedroom community for NYC. Anyone working in NYC usually has a higher income than someone in a similar title in Boise, Idaho where salaries and COL are lower.
Also consider the fact that Newsday publishes incendiary articles like this every year. When they arent bashing teacher and cop salaries, they are focusing on how expensive everything is and try to get people riled up.
HHI would be a better guage as many SAHMs rely on their spouse's 6 figure income but easily can get back into the work force if they are teachers or lawyers (my neighbors HHI went from $120K to $230K because the wife went back her old teaching post at a college after SAHM).

This is true. If a lady is trekking into the city every day and working making 175k salary, they feel like a nice bag and a nice car is bonus. It's all psychological need some fun things

How much is your Salary?
There's too many variables to determine someones wealth. Salary and cash flow is just a small factor. It's the same as only checking the revenue a company makes but not peaking under the sheets at expenses, assets, liabilities/debt, etc.

Thanks everyone. Was just curious about individual salaries. That is all. Didn't think I was out of the ordinary as many people don't talk about it but wonder what other people make.

Re: How much is your Salary?
Well since I'm a SAHM I make 0 but, by not including bonuses your poll is pretty meaningless for many industries. In some industries the bonus is equal to or more than the salary and likely over even your highest category.
