Omg I never
I hate dealing with paranoid people! We have an outside billing company, I spotted an issue, I've brought it to the attention of the powers that be, and now this person is trying to throw me under the bus. I guess she thinks I'm accusing her of something - absolutely not the case, just trying to solve a problem, and I've made that clear (we are talking about THOUSANDS of dollars in claims) - and she's now trying to get ME fired (or so it would seem). She also made a very inappropriate comment to the director, and seems to think that making me (the new girl) look bad she will come out smelling like a rose. I have not once accused her of not doing her job, just asked what I could do to make sure this never happened again.... I also asked if this was still continuing and did not get a response. The billing system is messed up, and she's trying to cover her butt by making me look bad using a simple mistake I made against me (mine cost us NO money, she is losing the practice tons of money). I might not have a ton of experience but the last 3 years this is what I had been primarily doing - and doing well, I might add - and I can tell you there are a lot of holes in the A/R and collections. If they let me go, so be it, but I never want it said I didn't bring up a potentially major financial loss.

Omg I never
Was it something that you could've brought up to the person who works at the billing company, instead of going to TPTB? Maybe she thinks you tried to get her in trouble?

Omg I never
I actually brought it up to the billing company first, got not clear answer and was told to discuss it with X. TPTB (director & dr) asked to be CC'ed in all correspondence with billing company (because they were having issues to begin with) so they were. Billing company is an outsourced PAID company. The rep made some inappropriate comments to the director, which set her off. TPTB already knew (or I should say suspected) that there were gaps (never arbitrating no fault denials - MAJOR loss of revenue - and writing off of various denials versus fighting them). I think she's just afraid that she's been outed, and trying to make it look like I'm the incompetent one.
I'm just always amazed at people who are unable to admit their faults and mistakes. I made a mistake (which was just amplified and highlighted) and I acknowledged it IMMEDIATELY. My mistake was not one that resulted in loss of revenue (and I had a suspicion I had made it previously, and mentioned it earlier to TPTB). But even if it was, I would have QUICKLY admitted it and worked to rectify it.

Yeah, that's a big pet peeve of mine. If you make a mistake, own it. It's human nature. I hope they realize that she is the one who was wrong and not you,

I received an email this morning from TPTB saying not to worry about it, I can't help but worry about it... The information had been forwarded to me as an FYI so that I can change my approach with the person, apparently they know how she can be and just wanted me to know what she is like. I sent a follow up email regarding another issue, that she said she was going to work on this past Monday, and she hasn't even begun....
