eh - mine is 12/22 so everyone is way too wrapped up in Christmas.
I have dinner w/ DH (and now the kids)
if it's convenient, my parents and sister will come over - but otherwise, it's nothing special - usually wrapping and baking and prepping for Christmas

I guess you can say I'm a birthday grinch too.
Dinner with DH and maybe close friends if they want to join. Literally no different then any Saturday night get together. Even for milestones - I don't like a party. For my 30th , DH and I went away and we'll be doing the same for my 40th

Birthday Spinoff - How do you celebrate your birthday?
My parents and my MIL come over for some take out and cake.
Then on a saturday night, DD will stay at my parents for the night and me and DH will go out to dinner.

I always take the day off from work.
Just hang out with dh & my 2 ds doing whatever. If the weather is nice we might go to the beach, one year I got a massage, different things.
DH gets me a cake & we sing at night. Order something good to eat for dinner, or eat out. My mom & brother stop by with a cake too usually.

I hated my birthday for a few years. My grandpa died right before my birthday and I spent my birthday in a funeral home, making arrangements. So I avoided my birthday for a few years.
Then I got sick, cancer, a couple weeks after my birthday. And I realized that I needed to start celebrating it again.
My husband's birthday is right before mine so we usually do something fun to acknowledge both birthdays. This year, my niece was in town and we went to an amusement park with her, my sister, and my best friend and her family.
I will ALWAYS celebrate my birthday now in some way. It means the world to mark another year of life.

Yes agreed, every year we make another rotation around the sun needs acknowledgement, because no one is guaranteed tomorrow (esp in light of the shooting yesterday, and all the other shootings). Dh and I usually just go to dinner, then on some close weekend mom does a cake and treats me like i'm 5.
This year for my milestone we left the country, which is exactly what I wanted to do.
