Annualcreditreport.com it's run by the 3 main reporting industries and is the only site the government recommends

yes, but this website is only a credit report and does not show your credit score, at least not for free.

So does capital one if you have a CC.

CreditKarma.com. Completely free!
Capital one has a credit tracker I like better if you have their cc.

Sorry, misread! credit karma is definitely legit, if you don't have a credit card or bank that provides it for free

The capital one tracker is very far off from my actual FICO score. I don't know what's up with it, but I don't trust it anymore.

My bank fico score was also very different from my credit score that I paid to obtain from the bureaus. I wish the bank one was right, it is like 60 points higher! Not sure why.

you can always pay for from one of the three credit unions, but I believe every time you check it lowers your score.
I did not know banks will do it for free

Credit Karma is definitely not accurate with your credit score. It is way off on mine and my husband's score showing much lower than it is. I know for a fact it's wrong because we just had our scores checked elsewhere recently.

When you request your score/report from any of the 3 bureaus on your own (not applying for something) it will not lower or affect your score.
You should do it about every 6-12 months. I do annualcreditreport.com once a year since it's free (not the score, but that's not necessary).

Your credit score will be different depending on how it's pulled. All 3 bureaus won't have the same score bc they may have different trades listed. Also, your score when you apply for say a mortgage or car loan will be different than it is if you were to check on your own using one of those sites. They look at different scoring models and have different calculations.

Credit karma is what they call a "fako" score. Still not real. Or, not really accurate.
If you google coupon codes for myficoscore you can get all 3 for $25.

I thought it always affect the score. I should pay the $7.00 and get.

That's bc they all use different scoring models. I would just be more concerned about the content of the report than the score. Just make sure everything's accurate with no late payments/maxed out lines and you should be fine.

Re: any way to do this?
The big 3 do not release their scoring models. Credit Karma and others are just algorithims based on what they think the big 3 score on. That is why they can be very different
