I had it early on but got rid of it in 2011 or 2012. Have not missed it for one second.

For me I couldn't tolerate the fakeness. Seemed like everyone on my feed had a totally different life on Facebook than what I knew to be reality. I know, not my business, I shouldn't care... But I just don't have the patience for that stuff.

Re: tell me what the breaking point was for you to leave facebook?

I have a love/hate relationship with FB

I love it because my friends list is truly a collection of Family / friends / colleagues I have met at various stages of my life. Some are close, some not so much... a ton I've met through LIW. (I truly love that we are watching our lives unfold from engagements until now.. truly amazing 2006 brides ;)

Some people annoy the ever living crap out of me. Nonsensical posts, drama, debbie downers, constant boasters, selfies, phonies, hypocrites...

But for every post I roll my eyes at, there more posts that I truly love reading. Weddings, new babies, new jobs... Old friends I haven't seen since kindergarten. I love catching up with people, and honestly, FB reconnected me with people I've lost contact with YEARS ago.

I steer away from the drama. I try not to get involved in political posts, although sometimes I truly cannot help myself!!

FB is what you make of it. I never took a break from it, but I do try to refrain posting too much. I'm more of a lurker.

Re: tell me what the breaking point was for you to leave facebook?

I deactivated mine a few weeks ago after some stuff went down at work and i didn't want to read the nonsense posted.
On top of the work nonsense there was just no need to keep an eye on people from the past. I felt like if i like their photos and then ran into them in real life i probably would walk the other way.
Add on top of that how everyone is always posting these stories, and links to things and how easily offended everyone gets if a public figure does or says something thats not PC, it just got to be way to much. I honestly don't care that much and deactivating it was the best thing i ever did. I had FB since 2008 and never deactivated before so this was a first for me and i was nervous but after a few days i forgot about it.

I do miss seeing pics of my niece and nephews but i just have my sister and mom send them to me.

I use FB to stay in touch w old friends and family that doesn't live close. I am on a mommy board that is very helpful. If someone bothers me I block or unfriend but wouldn't get off bc of it. I don't overshare, I post pics of my kids, for me it's like a photo album and I like looking back at pics but I don't broadcast details of my personal life or anything like that.

This exactly!
I like being able to be "in touch" with people I very rarely get to see or talk with in person.

Same here. I do unfollow a lot of people I am friends with if I find their posts annoying.

I'm still on Facebook. But I noticed some of my friends post drama stuff. Some one got mad at me because I liked there status a few times so they blocked me and took me off. I'm not really missing anything.

I love Facebook lol. I like seeing everyone's pictures, their kids, vacations, etc. I am on alot of community/school pages and I find them helpful and informative. There is always a ton of drama but it makes me laugh. I don't get involved and if I find it too annoying I just block the poster. I don't find Facebook much more different than this site actually.

Re: tell me what the breaking point was for you to leave facebook?

I deleted the ap from my phone a few months ago. I felt I was checking it too often and I don't want something on my phone taking up my family time. So now I very rarely go on and the stupid people's comments I hated to read no longer bother me. I use it to see pictures of my family who live oos other wise I would delete. I miss life before social media.

Re: tell me what the breaking point was for you to leave facebook?

I don't like social media. DH isn't even my friend on facebook. Most of my good friends are not on facebook or not active like myself.

I had a few acquaintances who were really annoying on facebook. They were people I knew casually but I started to really dislike them because of their posts. If you change them to acquaintances, you won't see their feeds.

I feel like I put most of the frequent posters as acquaintances and I only have about 20 people I actually like and follow on facebook. I had a bunch of old friends who I have not seen in a decade and I was tired of seeing their daily posts about their kids and where they went that day. Nothing against them but just not interested.

I recently joined Instagram and have been posting regularly like a photo journal. I have only 2 followers - DH and my best friend.

I never joined facebook. All my friends and family have it, but I have chosen along with my DH not to sign up for it.

Not to sound like Im standing on a soapbox, but I have no desire to get involved in the BS I see people getting into on there. "did you see what xyz posted? did you see what xyz commented?" I just have no desire and no time to deal with BS. I work and have my family, when I get a few minutes to myself the last thing I want to deal with is someone elses drama because their bored with their life.

My real friends I see and talk to. Whether its through email, phone or texts. I don't need make believe friends.

I honestly don't want my business out there. I live a private life and I like to keep it that way.

They got mad and blocked you because you liked their status? I thought that was kind of the point of FB. I must be missing something Chat Icon

To answer the question... it's FB, I don't know I just don't find it that serious that one would need a "breaking point" to step away... If you feel that strongly about something that's meant to be taken lightly then maybe you should step away... it's certainly not worth any stress... but, I also find FB boring and kind of pointless so there's that.
