Job help = not sure what to do
Right now I work for a school district where I am paid hourly, i work three days where I have my own students then two days a week I sub and get a daily rate. I have been with the district for a few years and the work is steady and stable.
now i was offered a job in another district which is only.4 - which means salary is prorated i get only 40%.. this job is n a subject area not i am not teaching now plus it less hours to put in. Its actually my first teaching choice,
here are my concerns
i don't know if i should leave my current job for the new one.
i would be making less and i am not sure if this is only for a year or not as the school said they needed another teacher for the extra classes because of the increase in class size this school year. so the future is not certain. just confused . some pros are that i will get to teach what i enjoy, paid sick days and a salary

Re: Job help = not sure what to do
I would honestly probably stick with the steady and stable work.
The only way I'd choose the other job was if I didn't "need" to work if I lost it at the end of the year (like we could live solely on DH's income or something).

Stick with the steady work. My mom did something similar and when a full time position opened she already had a foot in the door.
The .4 position you will be the first to go at the end of the year when there are cuts.

I would stay put. There is no way I would take a new job for less money.

Re: Job help = not sure what to do
With the state of teaching these days, I'd stay put.
DS K teacher went out on leave this year and he had a permanent sub that was excellent.
Last I heard in June was his regular teacher is not coming back.
I made sure as a parent to write a letter in the sub favor. I hope they hire her!
